Big letter hats: love them or hate them?

I don't know who was first--G/FORE or Michael Block--in making these a thing but we've all seen them.

 

• Love them and own them?  Or hate them and want to fire them into the sun?
• What is the worst/best one you've seen?
• Are they on their way out? Or becoming more popular?

 

They're not my style, personally.  It's funny how polarizing they are: I have a golf buddy that has maybe five of them and another friend that makes fun of him endlessly for it.

Geez, these stupid hats are still a thing? Very 2019-2020-ish. I wouldn't wear one then and I wouldn't wear one now, just not my style. I don't care what anyone else wears so long as it follows the policy of the course and doesn't have any offensive wording on it.

Well if I don't like something I don't buy it simple as that. If others like it then fine it doesn't bother me at all and I won't "yuck someone's yum".

1% of them are passable. For instance: "RIV" for Riviera looks decent. But I wouldn't buy the other 99% of them if they cost a penny.

Big letters paired with a flat bill now that would be something. Different strokes for different folks! Not for me though.

I won't wear one but try not to roast those that do.  As mentioned, fashion comes and goes.

 

However I can almost guarantee that when people look at pictures in 20 years, the first thing they talk about is not going to be the trip or the ace or the shirt or the shoes or anything else.  First thing anyone will say is "Look at us wearing those ridiculous hats".

People should hate small letter hats.  Who hates big letter hats?  I will tell you who: youngsters who are ageist.  Old guys need the big letters to read it.  Why would anybody hate on old folks just trying to get some exercise and check out some fashion?  What is next, banning holding a menu at arms length to order in a restaurant?  Big text on the phone screen?

If you repair pitch marks on the green and fill your divots and play in 4 hours you can wear one of these hats while in jorts, smoking weed and playing music on a bluetooth speaker and I don't care (just to cover the bases, lol).

Great post, usually the typical description of most wearing these.  Not a fan, but understand the appeal for some.

I'm not cool enough to rock them. I can't do the flat bill hats either. I'm not saying they don't look good on others, they just don't look good on me. If I wear them it comes off as an "old guy who is trying too hard" look.

Weighty things like the 6-some in front of us yesterday who sprayed it everywhere except the fairways and greens and then must have had a dollar or beer riding on a 3-4 putt. At least 3 of them had a flat billed billboard hat on.
