This kind of reminds me of my first trip to the UK. I played a round at Borth. Drove over to Aberdovey and got there right around 4pm as they were closing down the golf shop. They turned the computers back on to run my card. I had the course to myself, and it was a wonderful experience.

Also being far north even after sunset there is a good amount of light. When I first played Royal Dornoch they offered a day ticket (now listed as a 2-round ticket). I played 4 rounds in the day and the evening round after dinner was one of my favorite rounds of golf ever.

Personally, I love twilight rounds as the course is usually empty, the light is wonderful and to top it off the price is often lower.

I've also booked morning rounds at a couple courses and arrived, and the shop wasn't open yet. Simply paid for the round after I finished. So, agree as hammer said give them a ring or e-mail to see if you can arrange payment in the event you arrive after the shop is closed.

Where are you seeing sunset at 9:30 pm?

Pretty sure it's around 8 pm and you'll be out of light before 9 pm.

Two of us walked Brora twice and it's a good walk, and with looking for a ball or two, etc. and not being the only ones out it pushed 3:45 - 4 hours the first round, better the next not following anyone. Dornoch is a pretty good walk as well - depends on who is ahead of you, but if a foursome you are following and not members, don't necessarily plan they'll be done in 4 hours.

It may all come together, but don't plan on getting very late to Brora and getting done and if the last tee time is 4 and you really believe you won't get there within a few minutes, don't schedule it or at least call them and cancel - just me, but they shouldn't be kept waiting if you can't make the tee time in a reasonable way, no matter how nice they may be.
