Golf Bags and Pickup trucks

Not sure if this is the right forum or now, but figure I would start here. I currently have a Chevy Colorado with a 62" bed. I have a Diamondback HD tonneau cover which is the most secure bed cover on the market. It is a great solution with both security and keeps the weather elements out.

That said, it kind of prevents you from easily using your pickup truck bed like a truck. So I have been thinking of other alternatives. I wish the Decked drawer system was about 4" taller. Decked says it would likely on fit a Sunday bag. So that is not a good option.

 

What are all the rest of you guys doing?

I have a rolling tonneau cover on my truck, just slide my bag in through the tailgate and grab it as well. Doesn't slide around on my Husky mat unless I'm driving like I'm on a rally stage.

I have a Sierra AT4; I have a Load Tamer adjustable net that clips in the attachment points just inside the bed.  Keeps it from rolling around.  I also have bungees and clips attached to the net to help secure other cargo when needed.  It’s awesome.  The pictures in the link show it attached along the sides of the bed, but I have it oriented across as a divider.  https://accessories.gmc.com/product/heavy-duty-bed-divider-cargo-net-with-rope-tensioning-device-and-gated-s-hooks-by-loadtamer™-associated-accessories-19419331.
 

I also have a Bed Rug bed mat.  Great for general use, and can remove easy if needed to haul rocks, dirt, etc.

I had a bedrug and loved it and a hard cover that would fold forward, but because of dogs and so forth usually had my back seats flipped up and the clubs were on the floor (as I said, not sitting on the seats) and easy to get in and out. Not sure too many pickups now have a level floor when the seats are "stowed" any more, but it was pretty convenient.

I have the folding cover.  It's strong, weather proof, secure, and folds all the way up to use the full bed when needed.  

I run a bungie cord through my golf bag, push cart, and shoe bag and hooked it to both sides of the bed to keep from anything sliding too far forward.

I have folding cover as well.  I don't really use my truck very much for anything except golf, so I made the bed work best for golf.  I have an MGI remote cart that fits on the driver side and slides out without folding back the top at all, just the tailgate down (opened it for a better picture).  I slide my bag in on the passenger side down a ramp with a storage area underneath for shoes, towels, balls, etc.  Rain gear fits right of the bag.   Did all this with a few dollars of scrap lumber and it fits tight when the tailgate is closed it can all slide out in a minute or so in two pieces if I need to use the truck as a truck.

After a lot of web searches, and ideas from you guys, I think I have a plan. I was looking at Weatherguard side tool box (56"x13"x10.5") and it would be a good solution. But, at $900 each, and I would need two so the truck stayed symetrical, I am going to pass right now, even though I have a buyer for my Diamondback. I would still need to shell out another $800.

So, I think I will likely go with the BedRug solution, and keep the DiamondBack. Also, I have found some used Decked CargoGlides on Marketplace, so could potentially add that as well.

I recently got one of these for my f150 and I’m loving it.  
 

Rough Country Bed Cargo Box
 

It fits a set of clubs and a bag boy push cart in it (with some room for shoes). Could fit two sets of clubs depending on how stuffed the bags are. I also use it for groceries and it does actually work really well for that with paper or reusable bags - no broken eggs or anything. Doesn’t rattle around when empty, light and easy enough to take out when needed. 
 

Would highly recommend it and wish I got it sooner

The bed rug is hands down the best solution. Get one, you won't be disappointed. Make sure you clean the bed and install the velcro strips. Removes easily and can wash the rug itself if needed. Miss mine everyday!

Rivian R1T Quad, the gear tunnel is the best club spot I've had in any vehicle I've owned.

Cleanable. Quickly removable. Cheap (except the tonneau cover). The cargo bar keeps your gear from rolling all over the bed.

Most truck beds have a slot on both sides that will accept a 2x6 or 2x8 to be utilized as a cargo stay. Measure twice and cut once. Budget friendly solution...

I have a net similar to this one and it keeps my bag close to the tailgate and stops it from rolling back. I don't put it in the net, just in front of it.

My tundra has these little notches behind the wheel well that takes 2” dimensional lumber so I have a 2x8 that I put in to keep things from rolling to the front of the bed. Works well for golf and baseball gear. I have a trifold cover that I hate but it works ok for the time being.

I have a rubber mat in the back of my Raptor with a sliding tonneau cover.  It doesn't slide at all.

I have a Ram Power Wagon with spray in bedliner. Bought one of these in 2017 and it’s been fantastic in the bed of my truck forever.   Certainly didn’t wanna drag my bag along the bedliner. This thing slides in and out for easy access to your bag.  I also have a bed divider that ram provided the can adjust the length of your bed wherever you want it to be. It’s easy to adjust.   I move it towards the tailgate for just enough room for my bag on the track mat with my shoes. Works perfect nothing slides around.

I have a spray in bedliner and laid some gym tiles at the back half and lay my bag on it. Doesn’t move.

I have a rolling cover. I usually will always just have my clubs in my PING travel case in the bed. I keep them in there while in the garage as well, so it works out. I don't like to keep my clubs in my vehicle for long periods of time, try to avoid getting baked out in the heat. Plus, using a travel case for more than just airplanes make it much more useful. I try to avoid bugs getting into my bag while sitting in my garage or if it ever happened where someone ran into my garage to steal something, my golf clubs wouldn't be obvious item to grab.

It's a Hoofer bag, hoist it up over the side into the bed, it doesn't go anywhere.

If it's gonna rain put it in the jump or back seat. Get home put your clubs in the house. Why would I spend $8-$900 on a truck bed or some elaborate storage system.... its a truck.

I just put a horse stall mat near the tailgate and put the clubs and push cart on it, clubs don't move, push cart occasionally does but not that often.

I have a bungee cord i loop around a tie down point, cart stays still cause it's quite taut.
