Cobra low spin offerings

Recommended Posts

How would you rank these low spin offerings from Cobra in terms of forgiveness, length, feel, etc? Which do you prefer?
i had a recent thread about the aero LS, and got some great information. Would like to hear some comparisons from those who have hit all 3.  From what I understand, the ltdx LS is the most fads biased and possibly least forgiving?

I've owned all the last 6 Cobra LS offerings, and you're right that the LTDX LS is probably the most fade biased and maybe the least forgiving. However, the way it sits is perfect for me, feels brilliant out of the centre but mishits can be punishing. Aero LS, showed decent length but to me was very inconsistant. Darkspeed LS, for me was a total bust. Had better feel with the weight back, but i'm not a weight back player anyway. Just could'nt get to like the look of the face with no front line to the head. Could'nt wait to get shot tbh. Got the Adapt LS now to trial and it's too early yet to tell as i pulled a muscle in the top of my arm last week. Hope to get it out on Thurs. There's a few settings i like the look of so will have test the lot. If i had to pick a fave it would be LTDX LS but i need every yard i can get now so will always look at new stuff just to see.

The newer ones with the back weight(3 weights) give the most customization to overlap with the x versions.

This is surprising. I’ve been through almost all of the LS offerings from Cobra as well (F9 weight forward, LTDx Ls, Aerojet Ls 7.5°, and Darkspeed LS 8°) and I found the Aerojet Ls to be quite a bit more fade bias than anything I’ve gamed. I even went as far as bringing both heads to the course one day and hitting them back to back off of several tee boxes. I play LTDx with 10g toe/6g heel, and it always gives me that perfect 10 yard baby fade. I could just never keep the Aerojet in the bag, even with 10g heel and 6g toe, it would only ever give me that 30 yard slice. Maybe that’s just the lower loft or the 7.5 head being constructed differently. Interesting though

If you don't have enough loft, the LTDx LS is probably the most fade biased IMO. But to my eye, the LTDx LS sits visibly open in the neutral setting, and doesn't sit square until you set it +1 on the loft.

I've never thought of it as unforgiving though. It's probably the most friendly to slight heel strikes of any driver I've ever hit.

I’m also interested in this topic. I have the DS 8 head and find it hard to look at without the top line. Played ltdx ls, but not for long. Otherwise, the DS is fine but can over fade with a slightly off swing. I’m not looking for anything more fade biased, thoughts on the Aerojet 7.5 lofted up?

I played an LTDx Ls 9° down to 7.5° heavy weight in the toe the last two years. But I found it spun just a touch too much due to I how deliver the club. So I bought and started played the Aerojet 7.5° at 6.5° in draw setting, heavy weight in the heel, at the beginning of this year. I spent several rounds hitting big fades (borderline slices) which I don’t do. One day I threw my LTDx head in the bag to compare on course. I spent another 6-7 holes slicing the ball in the right rough with Aerojet, so I put my LTDx head back on, and immediately hit a 5 yard cut down the left side of the fairway. And continued to for the rest of the day. I can’t speak to the 9°, but to me the Aerojet 7.5° is still considerably more fade biased than an LTDx 9°. I cruise between 121-123 on course and I thought the 7.5° head would help with spin. But I think the lack of loft just completely got rid of any stabilizing backspin I had with the LTDx. Having said that the LTDx Ls is firmly back in the bag, and I have an almost brand new Aerojet Ls 7.5° head that I’m looking to sell lol

I’m considerably lower speed than you but tend to add a good amount of spin and height so have always been fit into lower lofts.

That’s great feedback, I’m not loving the darkspeed, it’s fast and I can bomb it (for me) but it looks funky to my eye and it’s just too punishing to really score consistently. I may give the ltdx ls another go. See if 9 degrees can help me stabilize it a bit. I’d go with another brand but have too many shafts for cobra 🙂

Same boat. Bought the Darkspeed Ls 8° on a blind buy since no where around me carried the 8°. Absolutely hated it. Not confidence inspiring at all, and balls off the toe were hooking off the planet. I’ve tried 3 heads since I bought the LTDx Ls, but always come back to it.
having said that.. I would game the Aerojet Ls over the Darkspeed 8° any day of the week.

I nearly fit into the Darkspeed LS this winter, but had some occasional low spinners that concerned me. It was very fast and very forgiving, except on low face contact for me.

I also tried the DS adapt X and did not care for it at all. Then more recently, had a chance to try out a DS adapt LS.

Without question, and is the longest and most forgiving driver I’ve ever played. It is also a little bit right biased in my opinion in the neutral setting. The beauty of this system is the ability to completely manipulate that tendency though. Higher or lower, more fade or more draw biased, you get to choose. I’m sold on this one for sure.

Im the oddball here, but Im loving my Darkspeed LS, I swapped one of the lighter 3g weights out for an 8g and its been very stable.

I have the 3g in back, 8g in the toe and 10g in the heel. Paired it up with a TX Hulk and its been the best (for me) since the OG Sim.

Still picking up an LTDx LS soon but I’m thinking of giving the darkspeed 8 a try at ~ 44” with a 3, 12 in front and a 16 in the back. A mini-ish driver if you will. It’s already a smaller head and I like heavy swingweight. Hoping the 16g in the back can give me more stability on miss hits. See if I can make a fairway finder out of it. We’ll see, or else it’ll be on the BST soon lol
