Damascus Putter!

I'd like to give a shout out and credit to Dan Carraher, man what a super sharp putter. Great feel, balance, and truly a work of art.

The Damascus is quite awesome.  I love the neck.

 

How are you going to treat it?  Clear coat?  Wax?  I use 100% carnuba on my damascus knifes and the stuff protects very well.  I use it on my black oxide putters too.

 

Edit: I love it when dude posts on here too.  Wealth of knowledge.  Although, I don't blame him if he does not want to hang out with us very much.

It was soaked in break free CLP for 24 hours.  Spraying it on every couple months and letting soak for 2-24 hours should keep it from rusting.

@iteachgolf is awesome. I've gotten a couple online lessons from Dan and I continue to admire his putters. I'm sure it won't be long until I pull the trigger!

I'll probably use Carnuba wax, I've also used it on a few knives and it works well, but the knifes are not out in the elements like a putter. But I have some I'd like to try, smells good and seems to really protect pretty well.

Do it, I have one from Dan and it's creeping up to my backup gamer putter in my rotation of putters.

I have been working with Dan for 15 years on my swing.  He has helped me tremendously over the years.  I have watched him start dabbling in making putters way back, but now he has become as good at making putters as he is a golf swing instructor.  I had him make me a putter similar to the Golo 6 and my son has stolen it and made it his gamer.  I am thinking about what I am going to have him build for me next lol.

I’ll second the do it vote. He’s simple to work with and basically will make you about anything you want. Very impressed with his work

Update after 2 rounds in. I love this putter the balance, weight, feel, looks everything about it but most of all I really like the Sound. This putter has a very unique sound? I'm guessing it's from the damascus steel but it sounds so solid but unique, not super firm or clicky just a real nice sound & feel. Plus I really like the old school shape, looks and it is super easy for me to align.

 

Very enjoyable and really happy with this putter.

I have had Dan make 2 putters recently, one stainless and one carbon. The feel is so good on both. Hard to describe what pure feels like but that’s the feeling I get. I friend of mine was hitting putts with one of them the other night and immediately commented on how solid it felt coming off the face.

@mogc60 "Pure" That's a great way of describing the feeling for sure, but the sound is so unique my playing partners were mesmerized by the sound they commented on it last weekend several times.

Exactly. I saw one of his older prototypes sent some rudimentary mark up of changing the head to a much different shape and he just nailed it. He’s been selling a few of those head shapes too. He does a lot of custom shapes it’s pretty cool. Not to thread Jack but we have 3 very active putter makers on this forum and all three are fantastic. Josey, Lamont and Dan. That’s why I give them my business

Just got one from him as well. Fantastic work, highly recommend for anyone on the fence. 
 

I ended up with a B60 shape, toe up balanced like a LAB, with horizontal roll grooves, and a sound slot to give back some of the audio feedback that the grooves take away. 
 

Been wanting a putter like this for awhile, and couldn’t be happier with it.

The small one is mine, the big one is my sons. He putts broom style and couldn’t find a putter he really liked the look of. Now he will have a 490 gram 78* lie beauty. 

 

Just adding a pic of the broomstick built up. 44”, 493 gram, 78 degree lie angle. Turned out great and it sits dead square.

Just watched the Club Junkie review from Knudson and kind of convinced to give one a go. Looks like there's not any shaft lean which I'm wanting to try as well. Having a little trouble aligning my DF3 right now.

Just placed an order for the zero torque mallet pre-order. Excited to try it out. I've been all aboard the zero torque train for quite a while now, but looking forward to a great looking, more compact mallet version with no shaft lean.
