Golf seems like a sport you perfect with what you got.  Sure, if Bryson is having gear malfunction or break down due to strength...change.  But you can't always rely on an excuse.

 

Find some clubs...perfect them.  If you have proprietary new ideas on clubs...work it out with you sponsors to make the clubs...but don't always be relying on club issues.

 

Stick with something and perfect it.  Changing clubs is a weak excuse to place blame.

 

How can your swing not be good after all the time you put in?  

 

The constant pursuit of numbers turns beings bipolar.  'It's not me, it's the swing, the club'

 

It's a yawner

 

TL:DR stick with a set of clubs until significant technology improves

Now the square me ,loves that.  But the square me beat my head against the wall for a long time trying to make a putter work as well as one of the new fangled  gadget putters does.    So I have come to think “ it depends”. Afterall. Patton wasn’t going to beat out a slick shooter with a 1911 or similar , with those ivory gripped cowboy pistols.  
 

I agree. Bryson takes  it way too far. But. He’s had that putter for eons.  So there’s evidence that he will stay put if he finds the Goldilocks club.  His issue is he learns via mimicry it seems.  From his hogan phase. To his mow Norman swing and irons. Scary thing js he hasn’t found his deal yet.  His own combo. If he does there’s loads of talent there.  He said himself recently that he’s just begun to feel like he knows who Bryson is. In total. I would have to dig to find the interview  because I just saw it as a snippet.  
 

I boil it down to this. You either think he’s an evil mastermind who’s fake , and purposely misleading.  Laughing in his lair at the dupes who follow him.  Or. He’s a flawed human who struggles with social issues , and has many times tried to fit or create a niche by mimicking someone else.  Which is exactly what low EQ folks do , in order to try to learn and cope.   I choose to believe the latter. Doesn’t mean I give free passes by default.

 

as far as equipment. Those irons he’s trying to develop, have bulge and roll like a wood ( unless I’m mistaken).  He’s absolutely trying to get there.  Wherever “ there “ is. I wish all this tech were capped 30 years ago. But since it’s not. And won’t be. One must think that the arms race is necessity. Not frivolity.  Admittedly, with very little fruit. Yet.   But who knows. I’m just giving my opinion .  If I’m wrong. And he turns out f be David sims.  I’ll say it. And have no issue being wrong.

My opinion is, if there is no gear malfunction, he needs to find something and stick with it for continuity.  

 

That can be argued to death.  But he is nearing his prime...he needs continuity, imo.

 

Sure, Rose just competed at near twice Brysons age...no need for that deflection.

 

Bryson needs to settle with an iron and driver and perfect it.  Constant change provides excuses that no one is interested in hearing as it gets too geeky for the average golfer.  If he has designs he thinks will push golf further for the average golfer...keep it between him and the sponsors.  Don't use it as an excuse major after major.

 

Continuity in golf is paramount in my opinion.

interesting thing he said in his interview: i need to work on the different slopes with my irons ... guess he really wants a cyborg iron set ... i'm no pro, but the first thing my father told me when i got into golf was "it ain't the club, it's the swing" ... and he wasn't a golfer at all (farmer) ...
