Mizuno s3 vs jpx 923 tour

Very curious to hear from people who have moved to s3 from 923t. The 923t have been amazing for me but the s3 sure have caught my eye. The new leading edge really interests me. I have heard a few people say they are kinda lower spin for a traditionally lofted set. Curious on this specifically as I’m a lower launch and spin player. If they are lower launch and spin that the 923t it would be a no go for me.

I recently ordered a set of s3. During testing i was spinning 7i about 6400 with a prov1x, 93-94 mph ss and about 180 carry

That’s about the same numbers I’m at with the 923 tour. You havnt by chance tried the tour to compare numbers have you?

They’re absolutely not low spin. Both heads are true for spin to their loft. I liked how the 923 went through the ground. I haven’t hit the S3 off the turf but I don’t know that the sole grind will be that life changing. Mizuno irons have been good for such a long time and the only other I can remember with that grind was the 900 forged. I’ve owned so many sets of mizunos, none of which had the leading edge grind and liked all of them.

Anyone have hands on experience with S-3 vs any of the JPX Tour irons? Been gaming the 919 Tours for 5 years now and will probably need new irons in the next 18 months

1. Much better through the turf - way less grab after the ball but still very able to get to the back of it due to the preworn leading edge

2. Offset is blended better so even though it’s the same on paper it looks lower

3. Top line slimmer and higher toe so they look a tickle more upright in a good way

4. Softer feel than the 919

5. I’m getting as much speed at 34 degrees compared to 32 degree 243

I have 923 tour and s3.

s3 is a smaller, less offset, and get through the turf orders of magnitude better.

the jpx 923 tour 4-5 irons are noticeably easier to hit. 9-6/7 is a wash
