Looked at video of my swing today.

I was feeling good about myself and the progression of my game… and then I looked at video of myself and realized that I look as if I’m swatting at the ball like a insane T-Rex with a stick. Now I’m sad.

I’ve been told video is the best practice tool but I’m not sure, as what I’ve seen cannot be unseen. 😝 how do I get past this oh wise ones of the WRX? 😂

Get a good instructor and do what they tell you. Unless you have serious skills, trying to figure it out on your own is like being your own lawyer.

Exactly why I don't film myself or want to see a video of my swing. I can get the ball around pretty good for a 68 year old with 2 bad shoulders. Still play at 6700 yards and short game is definitely my strong point. Handicap stays around 6, play 4- 6 days a week and usually 27 - 36 holes every time we play.

Not trying to insult anyone but just my opinion. I think a lot of guys on here worry to much about swing positions and overall swing aesthetics.

There are two kinds of golfers. Ones that are happy what they are doing. Ones that want to improve.

There are no biases against either. You are group 1 and that’s awesome and I wouldn’t change a thing.

However, as I have said on this forum many times, I asked Palmer personally what he meant by that.

”I meant when you get to the course, that’s the swing you have that day. Don’t fight it or make changes after bad shots.”

That was a paraphrase. Then he smiled and said, “I didn’t mean keep your crappy swing.”

I compare it to a singer who wants to make it big but has never recorded themselves sing and listened to how they sing; they go through a thousand auditions and never make it and wonder why.

Then they finally record themselves and listen and it’s worse than Yoko Ono.

Easy, post those swing videos and implement the 42 things you'll be told you need to do. Should take you about 3 days...

Yeh I'm 68 and been retired for 6 years now. For what it's worth I do the DeChambeau 1-plane swing. His original swing, not the one he plays with now. Just easier for me with what seems like less moving parts. My Driver average is 245 - 250 yards, I should be playing from 6400 - 6500 yards but I just can't make myself move up a tee. Just like the challenge I guess, or probably just to stubborn to move up. Anyway I play just for the enjoyment of being out there and being with friends.

I know golf is hard and at the point I'm at I know it would take a lot of time with drills to change something. As you know going from a 30 hcp to a 20 hcp is WAY EASIER than going from a 6 hcp to a few strokes lower.

Major Kudos to those of you who work hard on drills/practice to lower your hcp and get better.

Also major Kudos to you Monte for always being willing to help and give constructive criticism to those that ask. Absolutely love Golfwrx, so much information on here.

I posted this mostly just to be silly. i've acchsually been hitting the ball better than ever for the most part, with exception of my driver......... I used to video myself regularly but took a break from doing that for a while. somehow recently had a breakthrough with my driver swing but I never knew what it was besides "the feels," so I decided to video myself to see what I was doing... now I kind of wish I hadn't because now I feel like I need to fix a bunch of stuff.

So, I went to the range and tried to fix the things I thought needed fixing, and proceeded to hit the ABOSLUTE WORST driver shots probably since I started playing golf, possibly in the history of everdom. so now I need to go back to the range and un-fix the things I "fixed" so I can get back to t-rexing and hitting the ball well.

this is a dumb game.

A guy who can run the 40 yard dash in 4.29 seconds has the potential to be a really good football player.....if he runs 4.29 in the correct direction during a play.
