Driver Fitment Question - Consistency and Shafts

Recommended Posts

Since I do not have anyone to really ask...I did a fitment and it had similar numbers across all the heads I tried, though the Mizuno ST-Z (price) and DS-Adapt 10K (general feel) were the two I liked most. Since I do not want to spend the extra $250 on the DS-Adapt, I went to hit the Darkspeed X vs Mizuno yesterday.

I felt that I liked the Cobra better from appearance and feel, but the Mizuno seemed slightly more consistent. I figure the differences mostly come to my swing...I thought I was over my injury, but apparently not - SS is down about 8 MPH. Additionally, the fitter recommended Regular, but the data below is with Stiff shafts (same models). My main needs right now are generating spin and greater forgiveness across the face (both have helped) - I have had a lesson, but had reverted to my pull yesterday.

So, 2 questions:

  1. I'd prefer the Cobra, but should I reconsider the Mizuno due to the consistency? As a note, this was high weight forward, so I can easily swap them for more forgiveness.
  2. Would regular or stiff really affect me? I'd prefer to keep the same shaft once I'm healed again and back at full speed. Numbers between regular and stiff were nearly the same.

I would go with Darkspeed because if a driver doesn't look or sit right with me no matter how consistent, I can never truly get comfortable with it but that's just me.  It's not like the Darkspeed is significantly more inconsistent from a dispersion perspective.  As far as flex, I'd say stiff as that's what you're used to and it's giving you similar performance as regular.  Once your injury is fully healed, your ss should return to what it once was unless your injury has permanently affected your flexibility/mobility.

NON of them looks like a good fit, it looks like basic specs was done by "walk over"....you are not ready to pick head or shaft with those numbers.

Set basic specs first, then try again.

DS as you need spin and the Mizzy is great on the sim but your spin with it will make it unplayable...

Seconding what @Howard_Jones said; think the answer is neither. The fit is incomplete, at best, particularly if you're expecting to get quickly get lost speed back.
