Still digging mine. Knocked my AI Smoke TD Max out of the bag. It is super easy to launch and the adjustability is a welcome improvement. 

Played with a guy on Friday who usually outdrives me. He got me a few times but there were a few holes where I got out there with him or slightly beyond.

This has been my exact experience as well. 15-20yds farther than my AI Smoke TD Max and easier to launch.

The only flaw I can find in the new DS Adapt sleeve is a bit of a hole in the settings around loft +1. You can’t add 1* of loft without also going 1* upright or flat. 
 

My usual Callaway setting was  N/+1 which isn’t an option. So far I’ve just gone a bit more upright. Might play with flatter settings too. I haven’t checked to see how the stock lie angle compares to Callaway. 
 

 

edit to add: the stock lie angle is 58 compared to 57 for my old AI Smoke TD Max. I’ll try one up/one flat to match my old settings.

Anyone stuffed around with the back weight? Picked up a 14g to try and solve some swingweight issues, I've gone down to a 44.5' shaft for some extra accuracy and wondering if anyone else has any experiences.

Pretty impressed with the adapter on these.  Good friend of mine bought a LS 3w that I built up - he swung it in the sim at his work when I was there and watching the flight and numbers all move with the adjustments was pretty cool to see.  I know other adapters obviously work but the fine tuning this thing offers is pretty revolutionary.   Every single manufacturer will have something similar by this time next year

I play mine at 45' and have a 10g weight in the back so 14g weight seems about right at 44.5'

I just ordered a 9* Max K from my local fitter.  Going to drop a Diamana WB 53 in it and see how it goes.  I am currently hitting the Callaway Elyte with a WB 43x, but I think the 53 stiff might be a better fit as the 43x feels a bit too tip stiif on days the swing is not quite there.  I really liked the Ping 10k, but I hit it a bit too high with a little too much spin....hoping I see a little less spin with a little lower ball flight out of the Cobra Max K.  For the record, the Ping 10k was longer and straighter than the Elyte, I just hit it (10k) too high.

This thing is awesome. I started the year in a gt3 but was getting penalized on toe strikes with low hookers. Tested this vs a 440lst on course for a bit and the cobra won out. Better ball speeds and less spin vs the ping which surprised me. 

 

GT3 has an extra 2-3mph for me but the toe strikes on the cobra keep me in the 1900 spin range whereas the gt3 would drop way too low

 

i find it launches pretty high but I’m not seeing it spin up as much I thought it would. Keeps it under 3k no matter where I hit it on the face

I have used the Cobra 4 rounds, the first 2 rounds were amazing, I enjoyed hitting it! I think the honeymoon phase has worn off for me. I hit it okay in a tournament over the weekend.

 

The adapter is legit, it really helps you fine-tune your misses/ball flight.

 

I am going to head to head it with a 440 LST.

So I don't have an Max, but I do that the DS Adapt X that I was able to snag on a deal and over the course of several rounds even with just the stock shaft this driver is just a game changer. Even the X is silly easy to hit and the misses now are really not dead at all. Already had my best round of the year with this thing and it was mostly because I was sending my drivers further and more in play than any other round all year and the subsequent rounds have had similar results albeit not quite as low of scores.

Thinking about getting a Max-K.  If I wanted to play the near 10* does it matter what loft I get?  My understanding with the new adapter is I could get a 9* or 10.5* and set it to 10* and still have the face sit square.  Is this correct?

You might notice face angle change a tad more on the 9° head, but not by much. I don't know how they do it, but I definitely don't notice near as much face angle change with the Cobra as I do other manufacturers when adjusting loft. The way the smartpad makes contact with the ground somehow makes a difference.

I have the 10k and it's awesome off the toe, but I struggle with the low face height.. I usually catch a lot of drives off the higher part of the face and they spin up.

 

The Max-K for me isn't as good off the toe, it has that spinnless dipper in it, but I enjoy the significantly higher face (5 mm taller and 6 mm wider) that helps me tee up and try to hit up. The thing that bothers me somewhat with the K is that it sits a bit flat to my eye, and I have yet to find a shaft that fits this head. Any recommendations? For some reason I feel like with the K my good strikes are these spinnless fades that feel great but don't really go anywhere.

 

Have the Elyte Mini arriving on Monday, can't wait tot give it a proper test against these on accuracy.

Has anyone weighed the head off the shaft without the adapter?

I'm curious how it compares with the weight of my current darkspeed max which is about 196 grams. I've read it's heavier to get the high MOI but with no details on how much heavier.
