what are some good wedges to keep an eye out for?

sorry i put this in the general section, but was wanting some JDM wedges.......Admin you can delete the other.

 

i find myself have stronger lofts in a new set and think i would like something around that 44-46deg mark then a matched set going 50 and maybe 54 or 56 but dont know what i should be looking for. 

 

I currently game a 50/54 Callaway MD5 Jaws wedge, but mindful that this other set the flex will be SR and graphite where these two wedges are the standard wedge shafts from Callaway. 

 

So preference would be something that would traidionally be a PW as the P i have is 38d, maybe mid 40's and something i could use from 100m downwards like i do now and in a reg or SR flex. I dont tend to use wedges around the green as i putt so dont need anything past the 54/56. 

 

I didnt like the feel of the wilsons and did try a Grind version in TM, but found i hit the MD5's better and with more spin even with the tape on the face (testing when buying). 

 

so what is out there that would be similar feel to the MD5 like in Fourteen, Bridgestone or other?

I’ve been made a believer of the Miura wedges. I don’t know that I will ever switch. Right now I’m playing the HB in the 52 (bent to 50), hb in 54 and the tour wedge in 60 but I do have the new forged series on order from Will peoples in 58.

So I either made another rash purchase but have picked up Osafune Ichimonji GOLF DESIGN Wedge 48°, 52°, 58° 3-piece set for a stupidly cheap price. 

 

I've been led to believe that these are quite bespoke and obscure to not be known outside of Japan, so hopefully they aren't just some unknown piece of rubbish.

They look awesome. I currently have some MD5 jaws wedges and I'm one of those weirdos that wants everything the same. Having a monster gap from PW to the 50.getting those epic forged irons I could do with something like you have from 46 onwards

i almost bought a fourteen DJ-5 for an awesome price, but bailed last minute because i noticed the 4 degrees of bounce. I wanted a 44-46deg option but was put off as most stock offerings for a PW has 8-10 degrees of bounce apparently.

I'm also using Miura wedges - I can't speak highly enough about how good they feel....I wish I could have a fresh set every year but I'm not flashing lottery money yet lol

havent looked any further, basically rebuilt a full set of 4-5 year old JDM callaways without even noticing and need to calm down a little lol

lol.....can never really calm down myself...this is the first season that I've used the same set of irons for more than 5 rounds

i dont want to talk about it lol, i bought 3 sets of irons before my last purchase (all in 6 months) -  (which i like) and now just waiting for some of my other hybrids to arrive from Japan. the irons i have (Epic Forged Star) are the super strong JDM lofts, where the each club is really mislabed as the PW is really a 9i and its like that for the entire set. I need a AW that is about 44-46deg to fill the gap i have between the Jaws 50d and the Pw that is 38d.

Cobra Rickie Fowler MB Forged copper irons 4-PW pulled X7 shafts and installed the JPX923 shafts - ditto

Nike Pro Combo iron set 3-PW (untouched so far, haven't played yet either) SOON!

Unknown 3-PW blade heads that got built out with some Accra ICWT 95g graphites - good gamers

Bridgestone Tour B X-CB 5-PW and added BRM 50/56 wedges - OMG! Buttah!

 

As far as wedges go?  I love the BRMs from Japan.

I'll confirm any Fourteen Wedge especially the new stuff, best Wedges on the Planet for my money. I'm not going to say there's not a better wedge? but not for the price of Fourteens and the Choices are just right when it comes bounces and grinds. Simply the best playing Wedges I've found so far.

I almost bought one as I needed a 45/46 and was put off that the bounce in the DJ5 was only like 4 or 5d. Would have been an absolute steal as well on the auction. 

 

I ended up getting the AW in the epic forged star, which is really a normal mans PW as it's 43deg.

 

The Osafune Ichimonji wedge set I bought look really cool, have decent shafts and apparently a bespoke brand from Japan (according to CGPT) and I cant find any information on them, but the hit alright

I don’t get the fourteen hype…. I have rm4s and feel is just ok, no leading edge or trail edge relief, and I play on tight fairways so I can’t really open the face much. I don’t know but not really a versatile club.
