High Launch / Low Launch Iron Shaft Combo

So i’m gaming callaway apex pro irons, I am really enjoying them but when I bought them I didn’t realize they had elevate 95 shafts, high launch high spin shafts. I live in a very windy area and i’ve been noticing anything between a 5 iron and a full swing 8 iron is getting too high, too spinny, and the wind is pushing my ball more than i’d like. I don’t have the money right now to do a club fitting and i’ve been doing lots of research and think dynamic golf low launch shafts will help my problem. I really like my current high launch, high spin shafts on my 9i, P, and A though I like being able to get them in the air and get lots of spin with them. Would it be possible to go with 5-8i dynamic gold low launch shafts and 9-A elevate high launch shafts? My worry is with the difference in launch it will affect my distance and the gap from 8i to 9i could be affected. Please let me know what you think. If you need any kind of reference 7i typically carries 190-200 yards.

I really dont get it, if your long end is to high and spinny, the short end should be the same or worse
- What you ask for seems to be a "reversed flighted set" where long irons is low launch and short is high launch.

Anything can be done, the question is how it will work for you, but again, its a contradiction in your text, the short end should not work when the long end dont. You should have the same or more problems in the short end with those shaft.

Agreed, the problem should be pretty evident throughout the bag. 

 

In terms of the idea, you certainly could play different iron shafts throughout the set. The concern I would have would be shaft weight. If by dynamic gold you mean an S300 or X100 shaft, we're talking 30 grams difference between your 8 iron shaft and your wedge shaft. That would be quite the strange transition. 

 

My opinion would be to test a few different shafts. You don't need to pay for a fitting to walk into a golf store and demo a club. Hit some shots with different clubs and shafts and get a sense of what works well for you. 

 

Based on what you've described, the Dynamic Gold 120 shaft line might be a good place to start. It's pretty low launch / low spin but not quite as heavy. It would probably be a good gateway from the Elevate.

Unless you tend to hit your short irons too low and with too little spin, I'd guess that you'd continue to be just fine with your short irons with Dynamic Golf 120.
