Ventus shaft received broken/ seller refuses to refund

Morning, 

I am not sure this is where I need to be but if not please let me know and I will delete.

I purchased a Ventus black + 6S from lumberjack627

Received the shaft broken. I contacted the seller , he said he was not giving a refund until he got his money back from insurance on pirate ship/  I said that is not working for me. the shaft was thrown in a box one softball size plastic shipping bubble wrap. floating around in there. His comment was that it was up to shipping standards🤷‍♂️

I took pictures sent them to him. the last fibers have broken so it is actually 2 pieces now.  Since he did not refund, I went to PayPal his response to PayPal is that I" broke the shaft completely (on purpose), just look at the 2 different pictures. Well, that is ridiculous but whatever. the shaft was hanging by fibers

Now this guy asked me on Messager to pay friends and family , told me he had great reviews and was a police officer. I said no. I absolutely know that should have been a flag. but he did have good reviews. all my fault on that.

I should have reported this according to the rules

My thought is he has no insurance and is playing this out. I don't believe I should be waiting for him to get his money as the shipping is his responsibility and was obviously done wrong. He did ship within a few days which when I first contacted him I said a week again my mistake on timing.

So that is it in a nutshell bought a shaft received broken and lumberjack 627 doesn't believe he needs to refund, He believes I snapped it in two.

I've only once had a shaft break (knock on wood) when shipping and it too, was a ventus. Insurance covered $100 worth and I had to eat the remainder as a loss. I refunded the buyer immediately and took it as a lesson to package overly cautious and/or purchase additional insurance. Unfortunate situation for the seller, but if the buyer doesnt receive the product in the condition it was advertised then you are responsible.

 

It's one thing if it is simply a condition dispute (ie: clubs looked better in photos than in person) but when something is broken its pretty cut and dry. I think the buyer has every right to expect refund within 1-3 days rather than waiting out the claim proccess.

Good job, in that case the seller should refund you immediately. It is not your problem and it's up to him to sort it out with whatever shipping carrier he used.

Shipping just a shaft in that kind of flimsy box is asking for trouble, should be using the round tubes, much firmer container and less likely to bend.

Pro move is in a tube and then in a regular club box like that to cut shipping costs down. Not sure why the shippers hate tubes so much but the cost is insane

Cut and dry case. You will get your refund. Seller hopefully got insurance or he will be out of luck.

Buy a pool noodle from the dollar store. Shove the shaft down the hole of the pool noodle. Ship the pool noodle/shaft in regular box. Most cost-effective and super reliable method.

I'd give him one more chance to do the right thing and if the seller did not do so I would just open a case. There is no reason for a buyer to have to wait on the seller being reimbursed by any shipping insurance claim. That is totally the sellers issue to deal with.

PVC would have been a good option for extra protection inside the box, especially for a high priced shaft. I've had plenty of clubs delivered to me in literally just a PVC covering the shaft and heavy bubble wrap on the club head (irons, wedges). not ideal but it worked.

Thanks for the replies.  I would prefer to keep it easy but doesn’t look like that will happen.

lesson learned for me is I should have backed out when he asked for family and friends( even though I did not pay  that way it still was  telling). 
we will see if he does the right thing

Should be an immediate refund to you and seller should deal with the insurance or reimbursement on his end on his own time, not yours.  How lazy can you be to package a shaft like that.  It never stood a chance.

Since you wisely refused his (against the rules) request to pay F&F you should be able to open a case and get a refund fairly quickly. Open and shut case of either "item not as described" or "item damaged/destroyed". He gets to figure it out on his end from there. 

Side note....amusing that he tried to pitch how trustworthy he is and is now immediately proving that he isn't.

Great advice typically, but it looks like someone sat on the box in this case. Always best to go with the pvc tubing. $5 and near impossible to break.

Should be an easy repair with a little duct tape.  Only difference is it'll have a midshaft kick-point now, little higher launch properties.

Thanks for adding me. Appreciate it. Lovely how he failed to mention that he was being demanding and gave me an ultimatum that I have until x time to return him his money. This could and will be early resolved but 1) I am always busy working 16 plus hour days so I need to also sleep and be able to sit down when I’m home to login to paypal to do it and 2) being demanding and disrespecting me is not going to make me move any faster. 
 

I have shipped 100’s of shafts/ clubs / driver heads and never had not 1 issue and now the person wants to bash my reputation on here is absurd.

Did you tell the buyer that you won't refund him until you receive your money back from the shipping insurance?  I would be polite up until that point and nothing but demanding after.

Saturday afternoon. I work 16 hours Saturday 16 hours Sunday.

I told him it was insured. 
his next response was I need you to refund me and I guess because I did not respond to what he believes is a timely fashion he said he expects a refund by the morning.

Good to see you responding.  I have not "bashed " your reputation in any way( I  haven't even written a feedback report yet..) What I have written above is true not fabricated.    Yes I was stern, but disrespectful is a stretch.  Sorry you have to work long hours but you could have taken the few minutes that you were writing messages and sent a refund.

I am not looking for an argument or a "he said she said." I just would like my money back in a timely manner which hasn't happen. I don't think that is asking too much
