Ventus shaft received broken/ seller refuses to refund

And that is exactly what should happen. The insurance is for *you*, not him. He gets the refund, you collect the insurance, and the former is not contingent upon the latter. This is standard practice.

And it’s going to happen. Again I understand the frustration on his part but understanding that I just worked 40 hours in the past 52 hours I needed the time to get home on PayPal to do it.

All this time spent responding to numerous inquiries you could have just sent the refund.

 

PayPal refund can be done on your phone. 
 

Lastly, what does you being a LEO have to do with asking for friends and family payment? Just wondering.

Sounds like there shouldn't be an issue then. It sounds like this whole thing exists because "he said he was not giving a refund until he got his money back from insurance". I'm sure if you had said "I have a weeks worth of work in my next two days, I will process your refund on Monday, please let me know if that is an issue" then we wouldn't be here. 

Also fwiw, you overpack things like this when you work that much and aren't available to support things going wrong in a timely manner. @MaineMariner's pool noodle and @southpaw72's tube + box suggestion are both ways to virtually guarantee this kind of thing doesn't happen. 

Also also, trying to get someone to pay F&F is against the rules. Had he done that and the shaft arrived broken he'd have no recourse or ability to get a refund outside of whatever you were/were not willing to do.

Honestly I think it's the response of I am not refunding until I get the insurance settlement is the biggest problem. In this case had you just said hey I am swamped at work and will refund as soon as possible I do not think that this post gets made. That being said hopefully the work schedule lightens up soon as I am sure we have all been there!

I think this thread is premature.  Shaft arrives Saturday and this thread pops up Monday morning?  And a Paypal claim has already been filed?  Jeez, give the seller a little bit of time - on a weekend especially.  If it was me, I might be inclined to tell the buyer, "if you want to bring Paypal into it, fine, we'll wait and let Paypal settle it."  Also, seller may need some photos or something else from the buyer to file the insurance claim.  I don't think it's unreasonable to wait for that before refunding.

 

OTOH, did the seller ask for anything from buyer that he'd need to file the claim?  Or did he just respond and say it's insured and nothing else for hours?  And did the seller really try to fight the Paypal case by claiming the buyer broke the shaft?  No attempt to refute anything in the first post, so I'd think yes.  In that case, be the bigger man and refund, file the insurance claim and move on.  If it hasn't been refunded yet, it's overdue.

Well once it was said no refund until he gets his insurance claim, I figured there was no other recourse so I filed PayPal  I thought he had plenty of time to send a refund(takes 5 minutes) with that said if I had known he was working 16hrs a day and would get to me on "X" than  I am sure things would have been different. I am not that heartless, well unless its the 18th hole and you want a 2ft gimme

He did ask me to send the shaft back without any refund🤷‍♂️.  I said send me a label.

Exactly. Thanks. The modern person today has no patience or care for others or what others have to go or are going through. It was an immediate I’m going to report you and file a claim. The shaft was delivered less then 48 hours ago. And the threat of I’m going to report you was less then 24 hours after the shaft was delivered.

I said I’m going to file an insurance claim not that I’m not going to refund you until I get the insurance money. Again 100’s of shipments on here never had this before so I needed to look into what to do. PayPal is not linked to my phone so when I was able to get on the laptop at home it could have easily gotten done. But I also need to rest my body and mind so sending the refund was not the 1st thing on my mind, espically with a family and kids to take care of.

I am a retired 29 years special operations Navy EOD tech, you are telling me about patience? that's funny. the only thing immediate was your response of " I am not refunding until I get my insurance claim. I asked for a refund, and you said no.  that's why we are here period.  And yes you are right some people have no clue what others have gone through or are going through.  At least you got that right!

Can you post screenshots of the message where you asked for a refund and he said no? And also where he asks for F&F payment? These are 2 big sticking points for me

My reputation and feedback on here are very high. I understand the concern but you can ask people who left me feedback I give them shipping asap from payment and ship same day.

That being said, appears both buyer and seller could have communicated with a tad more civility and patience, if responses here are any indication. Hope this gets resolved positively and both can just move on.

I don't want to drag this on. I just want the refund and move on. It sounds like he is busy with work and family and I don't want to put any more stress on the dude, especially if he is a police officer

Good job on the buyer for refusing Friends and Family payment.

 

All the BSTers need to remember that you all should be protecting each other in transactions.  Keeps the place "honest", and makes it harder for scammers.  See something that is questionable or not allowed by the Forum guidelines?...report it to a Mod, please.

Yes I did ask for that form of payment. 
and all I wanted was to file the claim make sure all was taken care of which I needed to attach photos and such before I send the refund.

I do not have access to PayPal on my phone or it would have been done already. PayPal is on the family laptop in the house.

Without getting into my professional background as it’s not relevant to topic at hand, both sides are showing staggering lack of awareness as to how this type of back and forth affects their reputations among membership here. Further, bringing employment/background into discussion is a bad look for both.

This whole back and forth is pointless. This right here is where you, @Lumberjack627, got it wrong. Apologize for your confusion in how this process works, and either refund immediately, or message the buyer and let him know when you will be able to refund. No need to have anyone blocked or extend this further. Once this is done, thread should be locked.

Asking for that form of payment is against forum rules.  Also your piece of mind over the status of the insurance claim is not the buyer's responsibility to wait for, nor did you have to do that *before* sending a refund.

If you want people to "let this go" then it would good to acknowledge that you at least understand the above, because so far you've violated both written and unwritten rules while still acting like the buyer was the unreasonable one here.

I have to admit, I'm a little bit perturbed by the suggestion that everyone 'lets this go' when as far as I can tell you haven't clearly committed to a refund. Just that 'issue will get resolved.' The fact that you first told buyer that you would need to wait for insurance AND buyer to ship back is alarming.

I'd have a hard time believing the seller would have made it right had the buyer send f&f since there's no buyer protection there.
