Mizuno shaft optimizer surprising results

Is anyone gaming or tested the Mizuno 243 irons with KBS 120 stiff shafts ??

the shafts are my go to but afraid with the higher launching 243 the flight maybe too high ??

Just messing around I jumped on the Mizuno optimizer at the local golf Galaxy. My three shaft recommendations were the KBSC taper lite stiff, PX IO 6.0, and DG Mid 115 S300.  I guess all three shafts have similar profiles to the original project X just a little more user-friendly. 
 

Is this fitting system accurate?  What do y’all think about these shafts?

 

 

I just did the Mizuno optimizer too.  And I have been a Project X 6.0 player for years now.  My top three were:

 

Project X LZ 5.5

Dynamic Gold Mid 115 S300

C Taper Lite Stiff

I was surprised as well. 

I just build up a new set of SUB 70 irons and got the Dynamic Gold Mid 115.  Got them to the range for the first time yesterday and the Dynamic Gold Mid 115 is excellent and I am making way better consistent contact than my old JPX 900 Forged with Project X 6.0.  So I guess the optimizer was pretty good.

Thoughts on fitting results for my son? The version he's got from using the optimizer has only the one shaft, not multiple recommendations...

 

He's about to turn 18 (entering HS SR year) and looking at probably getting him some used irons for his birthday. He's playing the clubs I was fitted for 25(!) years ago lol... He's still growing and developing as a player, so want to get him "in the ballpark" if not necessarily perfectly fit. 

 

CHS: 84.33

Tempo: 3.00

Toe Down: 2.33

Kick Angle: 3.67

Release Factor: 7.67

Shaft Lean: 6.33

Attack Angle: 4.33

 

It gave him the top shaft option of the Nippon NS Pro Neo S. I don't think I'm going to find that shaft in ANY used irons anywhere, so something more mainstream would be great. He did hit a club with this shaft, and it felt good for him. But right now the irons he's playing are Nippon 950GH Stiff, so it's probably partly because it's closer to what he's used to. 

 

Any thoughts (or anyone who can provide the *full* list based on the data) would be helpful...

I've got the app on my iPhone.  You've got to hit the "Select All" toggle to see all of the clubs in the system.  Lemme check...

 

OK.  Selected All:  Nippon 950 S HS is #1.  5.0  KBS Tour Lite S #2. 4.8  #3 950 R HS  at 4.7.  Yes, both hard stepped.  I think it's a data artifact.  

 

Going further, Pro Modus 105 R HS 4.6, PX IO 5.5 Soft Stepped at 4.6, Steelfiber i95R (3 dollar signs) at 4.5.  And DG Mid 100 S at 4.5.

 

I think it was Ian Fraser who pointed out at anything 4.5 and up will probably be fine, and this is just a starting point anyway.

 

The Tour Lite Stiffs seem interesting. I've seen some at my local PGASS in the used rack.

Be careful.  The full list is only useful in a fitting environment to help direct an individual on what shafts to test during the fitting itself.  You should NEVER make any purchase decisions based on it.   It's a subtle yet very important distinction - It's a list of what might fit, not a list of what should fit the individual.
