New Callaway UW for 2025?

Recommended Posts

I believe Callaway released the original UW in 2021 with second iteration coming out in 2023. Anyone with an ear to the ground know if a version 3 is set to release this year?  I had the original version and it was an incredible club.  Just got beat to heck on some bad range mats in the South. Thinking this would be an awesome gap filling club between 3 wood and 5 hybrid.

If they do I really hope for an adjustable hosel.

100% agree with adjustable hosel. Always thought the lofts were too close together too. Would like to see at least 3 degrees between them. Maybe 18-21-24 or 17-20-23 degree options with the adjustable hosel. Also this time around make all available in LH.

I prefer hosel bonded, it’s the only club I don’t tinker with, uw simply over achieves as is. But I will buy if it’s adjustable.

See I want the adjustable so it's easier to tinker with!

Hope so.  I never really like the second version.  Would love to see them release a 24* this time around.  I'd be in the market for both a 21* and 24*.

100% this on a higher lofted version.  The asian market got a 23* version, so they do make them.

Yeah I’m the opposite the original was absolutely awesome. I games the 17 as my 3 wood for a while and regret getting rid of it.

I've enjoyed using the UWs. Very unique club that is difficult to find the right shaft. It also sits in an odd spot for Callaway. It's clearly "Tour Inspired," but on tour, only Shaeffele uses one and that is just occasionally. They stopped offering custom build of the '24 version, leading me to assume that one is on its way out.

I would like to see Callaway dive into the new 4w - 7w bag that is getting more and more popular. If they can build it where it offers a 7w gap with something distinct from the TD 7W vs a 4 hybrid, that would be something special.

A couple others seem to still have them around, mostly the 21* - Kisner, Sam Burns, Alex Noren..

Seems like a nice tweener club for fitters.  Can work as a hybrid for players who dont like hybrids, and as a fw for players who dont like fairway woods.

If they would do a 23 or 24* I'd buy it too.

I agree.  I have the 2024 19UW and love it but it is just too long.  I am hoping for the latest version to offer a 21 degree UW to replace both the 19UW and my 4 driving iron.  My 5 iron is lofted stronger than standard and I think it would transition perfectly into my iron set

Had options to fit both of these. I sold exactly 0 of them. They were talked about pretty heavily when they were first released but we struggled with them, in my experience. They were just not that easy to hit for a lot of players. It took a lot of speed and spin to fit nicely. Otherwise it was way too hot and penetrating to make sense for a lot of people. Having said that, I love the idea of a utility wood and wish more companies other than Cleveland and Callaway would introduce them. Cobra sold a million of the original F6/F7 Baffler model/Rickie prototype. Taylormade had a UW back in the old Rescue days and followed it up with a Raylor model a few years later. I sold an uncountable number of Nickent UWs when they were at market in ~2007-2010. Adams needs no mention here around that time either with their legendary Super Hybrids which were just a fancy named UW.

However, selling a Callaway UW was like pulling hen's teeth for me and my crew. Maybe we just didn't know who to pull it for but after the initial fervor on release, it was a tough move and we found better clubs for most in a 7w or 20* hybrid.

Wouldn't mind an upgrade to try / reason for current models to be discounted if not because I'm contemplating switching my irons to the new 790s and would likely have to switch out my 19 degree for a 17 for gapping purposes.

I have the UW 19 OG and the Gen2 21, but I have replaced the 19 with an AI Smoke TD 5w.   Thinking of replacing the 21, but just plays so nice in the wind.  I hope they can have the same package with just a bit more forgiveness.

They’re definitely different clubs. Original had a deeper face and sharper leading edge. 2nd one was a little shallower and more fairway wood like. I have the original and never had a reason to try the 2nd one.

I got sent a consumer feedback survey from Callaway on my UW purchase last year and I went to great lengths to tell them that having it bonded makes it very hard to fit and purchase as a consumer, especially with the shafts being wood shafts and not hybrid shafts. Although, with the necessary tipping and non-standard lengths, I'm not sure there would be enough second hand shafts floating around to tinker with, lol.

I've owned both iterations of the 19* and a couple years ago I also picked up the OG 21* with a Ventus Black 9x second hand and I don't know the tipping or what, but I regret selling that thing, it was awesome. Would love to try to recreate that club if a new version comes out.
