G430 vs. G440 fairway woods -- face height

Does anybody happen to have both Ping G430 and G440 fairway woods? If it's at all possible to take head-on pictures, I would love to see a visual showing their differences in face height!

If anybody's hit them both but doesn't have them, a description would be interesting, too.

I love Ping stuff but struggle with fairway woods and hybrids where the face height is too shallow. I just tried the G440 hybrids but moved away from them because of the shallower depth. But the fairway woods went the other direction and got deeper.

I have a g430 5 wood and have g440 4 and 7 woods on order. I can snag a photo for you once they come in if you remind me. g440 is noticeably taller, but I still consider it a shallow profile.

fwiw I was mixed on my g430 fairway initially due to the shallowness, but eventually i got used to it. Still… that added face height is the only real reason I ordered the g440s haha

Went from 430 5w/4h to 440 5w/4h, just because.  440 FW is deeper, and hybrid is shallower, as you note—but not by much.  FW is still on shallow side.

I have a G430 9 wood, and a G440 7, 5, and 3 wood, but the problem when I measured them is that there seems to be about a 1/16th” progression in the face depth, with the face getting deeper as the club gets longer. So I’ll guess (and it’s only a guess since I don’t have a 430 and a 440 in the exact same club) that any differences in the face depth between the two are minimal at most.

But I suspect tha Ping would be happy to answer this question if you call; it might even be in the specs on their web page.

Here’s the g430 5 wood vs g440 4 wood. Weirdly the height difference is more noticeable at address than by just looking at the faces (probably because it’s more upright at the moment). It’s hardly noticeable either way though.

the thing I am more excited about is that this g440 4 wood sets up square to my eye. I always felt like my g430 5 wood sets up closed even in the flat minus.

That 4W does look really square there. Is it in the standard hosel position? I've always gone flat-minus on Ping fairway woods too and think that barely gets them to square.

Well, I just got back from the course. My god is the g440 4wd EXACTLY what I’ve been looking for! It’s in the flat - position and give me the launch and anti left I want. It’s as long as anything I’ve hit, stupid forgiving, feels and sounds so much better than my g425, and much better off the deck than the g430. HIGHLY recommend!

I just purchased the G430 Max 5-wood, and demoed it in the -1 position. I needed a shallower head compared to my 16.5* TSi2, as I do not hit down a ton on my fairways. I am now second-guessing myself and considering the G440 17* 4-wood. Price difference is not a lot. Anyone finding the G440 slightly more difficult to elevate? Better off the tee. My 430 5-wood is still in the plastic.

For me, the g440 launches lower than I thought it would. I’m in a g440 17 degree set at flat - and it launches the same as the g430 15 degree set at flat -. However, it’s much better in every way so I’m just going to make a shaft change to increase launch.

Interesting. My TSi2 16.5* currently has a Motore F3 in it and I struggle a bit elevating it off the deck but it is an absolute bomber off the tee. I do find the the G430 Max easy to elevate, but they did not make it in a 17 degree, so I went with a 5 wood, and lofted it down 1* in my demo sessions. This caused my shots to lean on the right side, when I usually easily draw the ball. I like to see a draw in all of my shots. The shaft I went with is the Chrome 75 S.  I did not demo it off the tee.

I think the G440 Max 4 wood could be what I am looking for (standard loft wise), but I am just wondering if the added depth of the head will cause me to lose confidence off the deck and have elevation issues like with my TSi2.  Because of my OCD'ness which undoubtedly has been fueled by the  endless hours on this forum, I am going to PGATSS with my digital calipers to measure the G440 17* and compare it to the G430 5 wood and my TSi2 4wood.

But, I had also not considered the loss of spin that may occur with the new 440 Max head vs 430.

It’s not that deep of a face. I would say it’s probably within a few mm of you TSi2. It’s a great fwy wood and love everything about it, just need to try a different shaft in it.

Hit the G440 Max 17* over the weekend on TrackMan. As a result of demoing both that and the G430 Max 5 wood, I placed an order for a G430 Max 5 wood digitally lofted to 17*. And I ordered it + 1/4 inch over standard length (so 42.75"). 43 inches is a bit longer than what I am comfortable with for a fairway wood off the deck. I got it with the Chrome 75 S shaft.  We shall see when it gets here.

As an update, this club (430 max) is long and elevates nicely. No issues teeing off with it on a short tee, as well. Now I want the 7 wood.
