Shop over bent my irons - concerns?

Long story short, had a golf shop adjust my loft and lies, I played couple rounds, my balls were literally 20-25 yards right of my target, this made zero sense…

 

I play all irons all 1 degree flat. I had asked for 1 degree flat. After two extremely frustrating rounds, I went home and compared my T100 that just got worked on with my TM blades that I know are correct. Quickly realized the toe was WAY farther up, just took my 7 iron in to check at another shop, the lie angle was 58.5. 
 

I have no idea how they screwed up this bad, but are my T100 irons permanently damaged? Most manufacturers won’t go over 2 degrees let alone this is 4.5°. I don’t even know where to start.

Measured in the other shop using what kind of device?  If it was a lie loft machine, I wouldn't trust it.  Do you or they even know if it is accurate?  That is the first set of questions.  Bending T100's is pretty easy and you can get a lot more than 2º out of them.  IF the measurements are accurate, it still isn't really a big deal to bring them back to -2º.  That is assuming they didn't put marks all over them doing it.

It was the Integra digital machine. The only reason why I believe it to be accurate was because I had him compare it to my P730 7 iron MB which I know the lie is 61.5 and the machine had it at 61.5.  When you put clubs side by side with same length you can visibly see the T100 have a much higher toe. Left is the 61.5 7 iron, the right is T100. These are the same length as I had the T100 bent after doing my shaft install.

Nothing to worry about. Just go back into the shop, explain the situation (calmly) and get them to fix it. They should do it no charge when they see the difference. If they say that their machine does show it as 61.5* then bring your other club to compare and say you have had this measured twice at two different shops and they both say 61.5*. Have them measure that one. If it is off, say they really need to calibrate their machine, and walk out to the store you trust.

Do you know what the lie angles of the T100's were before you had them bent? That's a pretty big step bending 4.5 degrees instead of 1 degree and not an easy mistake to make. Is it possible they were already bent flat and they bent them another 1 degree flatter? The other issue is if you wanted the lie of the T100 to match your TM blades, telling them to bend them 1 degree flat may not get you there since both clubs may have different standard lie angles, would be better off listing the exact lie (61.5, etc.) you want each iron to be bent to.

These were brand new out of wrapper. As for the telling him exact loft lie - I sent it over exactly.

Yeah, I was pretty upset because I took these to my last golf trip but after sleeping it off feeling better. It sucks but it is what it is. I was more concerned that the iron was permanelty damaged but seems like they can handle more then the 4 degrees of bending. I think the only one I am overly concerned about is the T200 4 iron. 
 

I’ll be going in today to letting them know.

The small saving grace here is that if the T200 does snap, its on them, not on you. You wanted it 1*, not 4*. Which was quite obvious in your message to them.

Plot twist- got the irons and wedges back… had another shop fix them

 

 

 

they reported to me that every single one was bent to 58.5° and bent two degree strong… inducing my wedges. These had to have been mixed up with someone else’s request.

Different shops tend to measure differently because of the inconsistency in lie angle machine measurements.

 

i had a shop say mine were a degree off from other shops. Still don’t know if my specs are on the dot but I made sure to go to one shop and have them do it in front of me lol. 
 

most club benders I’ve associated with tend to miss a 0.5* or more… quite frustrating but ive learned it’s part of the game these days.

I likely wouldn't be going back to the first guy.

I would agree, different machines, technique, etc, but I mean 64 lie angle lob wedge and you bend it to 58.5? lol 1 degree I would understand but 5+ degrees?! And on every iron haha.

5degrees is funky. Whoever did ur clubs should have their license taken away lol
