Iron fitting this weekend

I am pulling the trigger on a new set of irons

I am going to GolfTec to get fitted just like I did for my current irons the PING G400

I play to an 7/8 hcp but I like to be in the game improvement category of irons

Mainly because I am not the type of player who works the ball, and I do not practice a lot

 

 

Here is the list of clubs I have on my radar to hit:

Ping 440

JPX 925 

Callaway Elyte

Srixon ZXi5

Titleist 350/200

 

Trying to stay away from the P770 and P790 because of the price

 

Any other helpful hints would be appreciated

Here's what NOT to do, I got fit in fall 2023 and made a mess of things. Got re-fit recently and had a much better experience. The only suggestion I have is maybe try a more mid sized iron with some help, but also reasonable spin numbers for a good player. ZXi5, JPX 925 forged, T150/T200 great choices. Consider PING i530 over the G440. Consider Callaway Ai200 and Apex Pro over the Elyte. If you can swing it, try the P790 - they're a hit for a reason.

 

I just don't think if you've got a bit of game you need to go full GI iron - you can get a ton of forgiveness without giving up a ton of control and stopping power on the greens.

Don’t get sold on numbers. I’d take feel, preference, and confidence over pure launch monitor data any day. 
 

Also, ZXi5 should be at the top of that list. So, so good. Either way, enjoy!

The numbers you look at all depend on swing speed in my opinion. 
 

I’m a slow swing speed senior, so I look at spin, peak height, landing angle, not distance.  
 

If you swing faster, you might need the flight to come down as well as spin.
