JPX 923 Tour vs Blueprint S

Anyone have any thoughts on comparisons between these two?

Pretty much the same till you get to 6-4 iron and the blueprint s have more launch and ball speed.

looks wise tour has softer lines and is thinner overall.  Blueprint s still has a very nice shape, just slightly thicker overall and more angular boxy (still ping like if that makes since).

two of the best!

The ZXi7 next to these are quite big to the eye because of the topline. I tested them recently and wasn't a fan, came last in my testing.

For my swing?  💯 yes.  I’ve went through 3 sets of the zx7’s, each time a new version came out.  I hit them great in a sim of mats, then I get out side and I hit lots of thin shots and I don’t normally have a thin miss.

blueprint s is probably the iron I should be playing if I want to shoot the best score.  Currently play a set of 2024 tcbs or a 620mb/cb/t200 cause I like the look.

jpx tour, s3, 620 cb, wilson cb, p7 mc are all other irons that I find work well and have soles that work from me.

This is probably anecdotal but anyone think it’s odd there’s not more 923T sets on tour?

If you tend to scoop it (no offence meant at all as that is what I do on bad swings and know many other + caps that do the same) Srixon soles tend to not work great. Thin city. They do work for guys that tend to be steep and OTT as they get out of the ground well. If you lean the shaft and your low point is well after it there are few irons better. As for OPs question I find the 923T to spin more than most other options in that bracket. Very different iron to the BPS but if it was me I’d prefer the 923. I tend to like the forged or 245 in the 4i though. Just stupid easy to hit. Don’t know why you’d give up the help and distance.

Maybe that’s it.

im about 4-6 down with a lowpoint around 2 after the ball on trackman indoors and out.  Interestingly enough I don’t hit them as thin indoors.

I tend to be about 3-4* down on avg.  Not overly steep and not overly shallow either and the zx7’s work great for me.  I don’t think you have to necessarily be steep for them to work.  I also play in Dallas with quite a bit of hard pan and they work really well, especially off thin strikes.

Played both the tours and bps in the past and they are incredibly similar irons.  I prefer the Srixon because they just feel very comforting for me, but that’s me.  I like the stronger lofts because I tend to hit the ball high and spin it a lot so the slightly stronger lofts benefit me.

Honestly, the bps and tours are really close in terms of size.  I did find the bps spin a little less than I anticipated and got some surprisingly good distance out of them.  The tours are just very consistent with spin and ball speed across the face.  Way more forgiving than they should be.  At least up to the 6i.

Go with what you like the looks of more at address.  Performance will be very close.  Bps feel great too, so not a huge gap in that department either.  Especially outside.

It’s more a shaft lean thing rather than just angle of attack. Although it doesn’t feel amazing they do perform very well on clean strikes. More or less if you release your angle early on bad swings they won’t work well. If you maintain a bit of lean you get really good results. Hence why I think they work for guys that really cut across it (moves low point forward) and are steep. Not surprising they get so much love from mid caps on here. For better players, who might have the opposite problem and tend to over shallow the club or dump it under plane  a bit you’ll kind of flip and pick it from the inside and that’s where I think something like a mizuno tends to excel with lower bounce. You still hit good shots but with the srixon it’s going to come out a groove thinner and not feel very nice.

This video shows a lot of that I think and is quite a good watch for sole difference info

Makes sense.  My dyanmic loft is usually about 70% of stated loft so I get some lean too.

for me I think the very long heel to toe blade length throws me off.  I don’t love that look visually and I think I can do some weird compensations

Very short summary.

Looked at Blueprints and decided too much club - bought i525.

Sold i525 and bought 923 Tour.

Love 923 Tour (appearance, feel, traditional lofts) and don’t picture trading out irons any time soon.

Ping is such an odd brand - it appeals to my inner engineer.  But every time I hit a forged Mizuno, it appeals to my inner artist.

Simply have never gotten along with any set of Ping irons since my Eye2 - and I’ve tried.

I got ya!  Although, I was not even thinking about how I lean the shaft because I tend to hit a lot of different shots on the course.  Sometimes I lean it a lot and sometimes I don’t just depending on the type of shot I’m hitting.
