Advice on club head wrench

I have a couple wrenches for my club heads, one says Callaway on it, one says Mizuno. Not sure if either company had anything to do with the manufacturing of these. One was 5 bucks, the other was 9. Some times you can hear a faint click, some times nothing. I'm always questioning whether it's not tight enough or too tight.

Wondering if anyone has a wrench they're happy with. I don't mind it being more money, I've got a number of clubs I need them for.

They should have a clearly audible click, that you can clearly feel, if you tighten them enough. Never had one that didn't.

I have a Callaway (it came with a club). It has a torque feature that prevents you from over-tightening the club--it clicks and releases when you reach the correct torque. It makes a little "click" sound when it does this.

Wondering if I just aren't tightening it enough. Always thought those threads were aluminim, figured they'd strip out pretty easy.

That's why you use a torque wrench. It limits the torque so the threads won't strip. Just crank it until it clicks.

This wrench is trustworthy.  Call the OEM, and ask how much torque to set the wrench to.

I got it, set it up for 35 inch pounds instead of 40 to be safe. I was surprised how tight I had to krank it to make it break. The wrenches I have probably work, just wasn't confident enough in them to turn it this tight. Thanks

I have had various OEM wrenches over the years from Callaway, Titleist, TaylorMade, and 1 random Ping wrench from maybe 8-10 years ago. The Ping wrench is easily my favorite. Very audible “click” sound and for whatever reason the club head feels more secure using this wrench…weird i know.

They’re supposed to have the same torque limit, no matter the manufacturer. That’s one of the few things they could all agree on. 
I use a Mizuno wrench on all my adjustable clubs and it seems to work perfectly fine- no damage ever been done, no clubhead came loose, and it clicks loud and clear.

This one slips when you've reached the target torque. Do any of the oem wrenches do that or will they let you keep cranking past the click if you don't hear it.

This is how wrenches like this, and common golf club wrenches, work...

All of them limit the torque you can apply to the bolt.  It will click at a set pressure.  All the ones you use for golf are the same.  You can turn it all day long and it'll keep clicking but not tightening anymore.  It's really not rocket science.  The torque wrenches just make it fool proof.  You really could just use a regular star wrench and hand tighten.  It's just a bolt!

It's a bike tool.  Can be adjusted to 4-6 Nm of torque.  Precise, very durable.  All metal internals.  The club OEM wrenches are plastic inside.

Actually, normal torque wrenches will allow you to over tighten it if you keep turning after it clicks. As far as using just a star wrench, I'd rather not do that when you're toghtening a steel bolt into an aluminum threads.

What is a "star wrench"?  A "slipper" type torque wrench?  If so, they are foolproof.  Impossible to over torque.

was quoting 596 when they said I could use a regular star wrench, I assumed he mean a reguler wrench with a star bit in it.
