Ping S159 wedge shaft info

Does anyone have any information on Ping S159 wedge shaft, Ping Z-115 wedge?

it’s listed at 111g which I think Ping list their cut weights so I’m assuming it’s roughly 117g raw weight seeing as DG120 X100 (120g raw) is listed at 114g.

My question is I’m playing i230 with DG120 X100 and just refreshed my wedges with Ping S159 50S, 54S and 58T with the stock shafts to use up store credit and avoid wait times (I play black dot also so it suited).

Are they a mid soft profile being a Nippon shaft?

I’ll probably change them out to DG120 S300 shafts at some point but curious how the stock shaft would perform against the DG120 S300? Cut weights seem a wash

As per Ping website for S159 (cut weights)

Ping Z-115 is 111g

DG 120 S300 is 112g

DG 120 X100 is 114g

I can't speak to the profile, however, I played them alongside my PING i230s with Modus 3 115 Stiff. Perfect blend.

I'll also add that I play Modus 3 105s wedge shafts in my Vokeys. The z-z115s "feel" stiffer than the 105s but not as stiff (or as heavy) as say a DG Tour Issue wedge shaft.

Modus 115 stiff is about 118/119g I think. Similarish profile to DG120 so maybe I won’t notice much of a difference if changing from the stock ping wedge shaft to DG120 S300

I don't think there would be much difference either, but for me, I do notice the feel. I really like the z-z115s.

On a side note: I also play 2 other sets with DG Mid 115 S300s, which I really like, and they feel just as good as the Modus 3 115s to me. Similar weight and profile. Again, they match up with the z-z115 perfectly.

I say this because I do not like the DG 120 S300 or the Modus 3 120 Stiff. Both feel more of a burden to swing.

I know I'm not giving you a technical or scientific answer, but for me who swings stiff shafts, the z-z115 fit perfectly.

The S159 shafts blend perfect with any of my iron sets which all have between 115 and 125 gram shafts.

what do you play in your irons?

I find there’s a small kick out the shaft that I’m trying to figure out if I like it or not. Wonder if it’s mid soft being a Nippon

Yeah. I love the stock shaft. One set of my irons have Modus3 Tour 120S in them, and the others have Project X LS 6.0 in them. I really like the Ping wedge shafts with both of these iron shafts. FWIW, the Ping wedge shafts don’t feel as mid soft as the my Modus iron shafts to me.
