I have addressed the issue you speak of.

I am of the opinion that Professional golf is a totally sponsored sport, and the media rights are sold to TV networks, so we can watch golf 45-50 weeks a year.

Sponsors should have the right to have four (4) exemptions in a tournament based on their

$4Billion commitment. If their exemptions get points.

So be it. Small price to pay.    IMO

Most important:  All changes to the sponsor exemption are passed by the PGAT policy board.

Again, no issue with them exempting whomever they like. Those exemptions simply shouldn't be accruing points except in the case of a win, same as the LPGA.

Points are the bedrock and currency of the PGA Tour. That's what they're competing for, not cash. At least that's what the tour would like to convey.

Points get you into that big $100M  tournament at the end of the season.

*PS/ If the LPGA does something regarding points, we know that it is wrong. 😂 (I kid)

It's pretty common to continue televising the end of a close sporting event over breaking coverage to something new... It tends to piss off the existing viewer to get thrown out of the coverage more than it pisses off the new viewer that misses the first 10-15 minutes of a golf broadcast where the leaders are still on the front 9.

Especially when the coverage of the other event is extended on its other platform (Golf Channel) so nobody who has cable is actually missing anything.

But sure... Stick with THAT hot take. Caitlin Clark is now bigger than the Tour 🙄

While watching the charles schwab, I was working on trying to find out why my soundbar is sometimes dropping the signal to TV. Evidently there's an issue with some older panasonics (mine is a 15+ year old plasma) and the ARC settings, but hey, let's just play a bit.

Playing with some buttons/settings on the remote, I switched the audio to SAP.

BLISS.

No more Jim Nantz. No announcers. Just the golf and natural sounds. No simulcast in spanish.  It's like I'm there without anyone jabbing away in my ear holes.

I wish I could see it.  CBS isn't coming in ota for me today.  I've been watching the tourcast leader board on pga.com and there has been a lot of movement.  Rickie now at 3 with that last bird, would of been nice to see.

Mostly Wishon with a few Tour Edge Exotics, Cobra, Cleveland, and one Odyssey mixed in.

FFS, Schmid took two minutes and 10 seconds to play his approach on 17.  And after all that, didn’t change clubs and hit a crap shot up into the wind.  Meanwhile his player partners have to just stand there and watch him for what felt like an eternity.  Should be an immediate one stroke penalty IMO.

😅I mean, every shot and situation is not the same. In this case, there were no people waiting behind them.  Was he taking excessive time on many shots?   And by the look of it, he had a tough shot over a hazard from (presumably) a bad lie in the rough. I'd guess he laid up, are you suggesting he was going for it and then hit it 60yd?  If that is the case, he likely had a really bad lie.

Feels like it’s the first time in a while Rickie put some circles on the board on a Saturday.  Nice to see.  It sounds stupid but I think Rickie has the lowest scoring average on Fridays this year - nice to see him move forward on a Saturday.

Also Rickie was 8/8 scrambling today (1st) and is 15/18 for the week which is T2. He has also lost strokes around the greens both today and for the week somehow which I’m not entirely sure I understand.  I guess he is hitting his chip shots to spots that are a below average result and then he makes the putt?

Anyway - there will hopefully be some excitement tomorrow.  Big spot for the two guys on top obviously - let’s hope Scottie or Rickie can make it interesting at least.

His playing partners were waiting on him.  And no, it was the par four 17th and I’m talking about his approach shot from the middle of the fairway.  He was hitting a pitching wedge into the green.  And he stood over his ball forever, and then backed off twice to discuss the wind with his caddie, before eventually just hitting the shot with the same club.  It felt like an eternity.  Definitely not fair to his playing partners.

It was his 3rd according to shotlink and for a guy in that position, taking a few moments to maybe make or break his career (with nobody behind) is ok with me.

I didn't get to watch the whole tournament today due to reception issues but when I did watch it was evident that he was the "pokey puppy".  I feel for his playing partners.  The commentators said he was "deliberate", lol.  Code word for slow.

He was slow all day, it’s just that shot was beyond the pale.  He plays like someone on a bottle of Benadryl.

The funny thing about the ‘taking a few moments to make or break his career’ comment is that it’s just not accurate.  More often than not, after a player does his impression of a snail on Valium, they hit a crap shot.  Which he certainly did in this case.  The idea that taking the extra three minutes to think about a shot results in a better outcome is a myth.

Think viewers were blessed almost all the big name guys were done by the time CBS went on the air today. Scottie and Spieth did Scottie and Spieth things early so a single highlight reel was enough.

If Scheffler had hit that save from the body dumping area during the main broadcast there would have been no end to the replays.

Griffin, Hisatsune, Bhatia, Kitayama, Novak, Vilips, and Potgieter all T20 or better. Young guns club is looking mint.

its not only a myth its illogical to think that indecision will result in a higher success rate

That is the exact opposite of what all of the sports psychologists are teaching young professionals, college players and many on the AJGA today.

I doubt she is bigger than golf but then I think more eyeballs watch basketball over golf minus the Majors.

Yup. Strange to me the calls go against her and she essentially is what has made the WNBA what it is 🤷🏼‍♂️

Im pretty sure you can only give sponsors exemptions to elevated events to PGA Tour members. It’s not like they’re giving them to a non-member local player.  If you’ve earned your card you’ve earned the chance to play in the elevated events.

And - again…If there are no points given then you’ll just have even more older guys and “big” names that get into these events because the young guys need the points.

I’ve said before that every elevated event should be 90-100 guys, cut to 50. The ~40-50 guys who get cut split $1 million (so ~$20-$25k each) and the remaining $19 million goes to everyone else. There should be 5 Monday Q spots and 5 sponsors exemptions, and the Aon swing 5 should be swing 10.  The “Next 10” should be “Next 15”.  They had 73 guys at the Truist - with the changes I listed above you’d be at 89.

I would even argue that it should be 50 players exactly so if there is a tie you’d go to sudden death on Friday evening with like a 7 players-for-4 spots or whatever the numbers are.  Which would be super entertaining and a must watch kind of a thing on Fridays.

It’s CC’S league now. I never watched a WNBA game until the arrival of CC. It’s kind of like how Tiger made golf cool and became a needle mover 🤣
