There's challenge there, but as any proctologist can attest, a week of staring at holes that all pretty much look the same isn't riveting stuff. Not a place I'd be excited to tune into for a Major.

The one thing I don't like about rangefinders at the elite level is that it lets you know the exact distance after a poor shot.  If you're a fairway over you should have to guess.  JMO

After watching this years tournament my feelings have softened towards Colonial as a TV golf experience, just because of that. Its still gloomy and all the holes looks the same, but that major candidate musings you had does make sense.

There's just not much special to me in looking at something that accepting any hills and elevation could be carved out to look the same almost anywhere else. 

 

 

Would be a better way to do it. Rickie has started well at most of his invites then fizzled out. May have found it this week, and great if he does, but he shouldn't get a full free ride to the money and to retaining his card simply because he's a draw. Nothing about that aligns with making the Tour more competitive and unnecessary as that might be they claim that's the new intent. 

Again a comment in the "my father is best" category. FOR YOU, trees are more than fine. For me, only trees makes a golf course one-dimensional as a TV golf experience. Quite the opposite this week.

Is it just me or did this course did not "photograph" well.  It looked really scruffy with what looked like trailer parks everywhere. And tents in odd places.

One thing I haven't seen mentioned anywhere is when was the last time anyone won a PGA Tour event using a ball other than one made by the main four (Titleist, Callaway, Taylormade or Srixon)?

 

According to the WITB on the front page, Griffin is using the Maxfli ball sold at Dick's and Galaxy.

If you have a personal gripe with trees that's your right. Not really a matter of import that we all have the same view around exactly how courses should look.
