Seems slightly better middle and low but gave up a little toe forgiveness. Probably blend a little better with BPS.

I find the 240 pattern a bit scary, one of the best aspects of the 230 was that they went the furthest on a good strike but rarely found a flyer out of other parts of the face, that pink bubble of center half line is eeek

I had the same thoughts. To me the 240 doesn’t really look like an upgrade from the 230.

My God these are ugly. Looks straight up like some s*** from 2005. Ping needs to fire their head of design. I’m amazed they let this go into production lol. The sharp toe is trash, it has more offset than a game improvement iron, the carbon is 🤮, the head profile is mediocre at best. Like no bro. No.

Those fliers are scary! The toe forgiveness looks great, but increasing front to back dispersion by that much doesn't feel like it for me. I'm a lot more interested in the Srixon ZXis now...

It's the same line of club from the same manufacturer who introduced the prior version within the last two years. It's not as if the laws of physics or player expectations have changed. The data in the Cool Clubs video seems to bear that out.

Haha. I watched a YouTube video someone posted here yesterday on the new Cally irons.The guy talks about them being a solid one piece forged billet and designed for elite ball strikers… Then says he’s a 10 😆

Just watched their video. They claim the i240 has more offset than the i230 and yet per Ping's website, the offset numbers on the 2 models are exactly the same.

Actually, Ping says they have the exact same club length, the exact same lofts, the exact same offset. 

 

Cool Clubs just said the wider spaced grooves give more spin. Yet, when Micro Max grooves were released, Cool Clubs back then said they gave more spin.

 

Some of these guys are talking just to be talking. They certainly would not qualify for a position on WRX.

I wouldn’t say shocking as much as I would say disappointing. I have yet to see a video on YouTube that really made the changes look like much of an upgrade. Seems like they are kind of running into the same wall as T100’s.

Right. Club designs have been more or less optimized by technology. They're not likely to change that much for the foreseeable future. Different materials maybe.

I hit the 7 iron yesterday... Feel was better than my i210  .. looks.... were not better than I210   - kinda bummer....  I240 looked smaller and more offset/closed than the I210

CC are using some of the talking points provided them.    MicroMax spins more from the rough, but relatively less from fairway lies.   For players that spend more time in the rough, that might be a worthwhile tradeoff, but not for their tour staff.

I’m in the same boat. My miss is also toe side. Staying with my i230’s.

I really cherish Ping, its nostalgia mixed with great consistent performance. But I’m keeping the i230’s.
 

Someone else in the thread said it, but the up charges are just too much.  I’ve hit the point of diminishing returns. Shafts, grips, on top of the stock premium price. It’s all just too much. 
 

it is painful to see other companies not up charge for shafts and grips. 
 

Maybe I should put the nostalgia aside and go hit some zxi’s.

After seeing the YT vids, still torn on this or BPS. I’ll have to try them out, based on what I saw the i230 is the same but better looking. Unless I can find an exact spec set in good shape of i230 then it’ll be a hard choice. Anybody comment on BPS vs i230 performance? I’m a 5HC but have never played anything smaller than a p790/i525 (first set back in 2013 was G25)  so I’m just scared to lose forgiveness going to BPS.

Unless ping go 3d printing I think iron tech for non-hollow irons is basically maxed out at this point (for all manufacturers).
