Seriously, how do companies not hire 100 golfwrx members for feedback before doing something like this?

 

I bought two i210 sets from second swing in new condition about 2 years ago. I questioned my sanity for a while, but I now feel like I'm a genius.

You hear this is a lot of the threads here that are disparaging a clubs aesthetic. 
I think as with other things ppl care about that don’t affect performance, it’s just human nature. For instance the underside of a custom car. I’ve seen plenty where it looks better than an average cars top side! 
Im into guns. Most will get the job done, but 💯 the aesthetic is important to me.

Totally agree with this. I’m personally not at all into cars or guns. But golf clubs and, weirdly enough, boots? I care a great deal about the aesthetics. I think most people probably have their own version of this.

Nailed it. Of course everyone will have their opinion but for the life of me I’ll never understand how people will rule out using a club immediately because of how the back or cavity looks.

I think the reaction comes less from how bad it looks, (which it does),

 

and more from it being rather out of left field for Ping.

 

The i210 and i230 both have very understated and clean looks, and really so do the i530 and Blueprint S.

To me it seems like they may have tried to bring back the i20/i25 aesthetic with the red i font etc

You're right, the club could be terrible looking or super clean, most of us are still going to shoot 83 and have mostly a good time out on the course. However, like in dating, we want to be attracted to the person we brought to the club. Some don't care and are just happy they are getting any attention at all, but maybe I'm shallow, I'd rather have one of the better looking gals at the dance that turns some heads. As for the guys like KJ Choi that could beat us with one hand tied behind his back and uses a 30* hybrid and Ping G series irons, well, he's the good golfer equivalent of the fit guy with a fat fetish...

Agreed. Not sure what Ping is thinking with that carbon fiber looking top portion. The i210s and i230s are both awesome performing irons but also have a clean look to them that won't date them too quickly. I think if they would have made that top part silver like the bottom 2/3rds, it would have cleaned up the looks tremendously.

 

The CF on these looks strange, like something they'd put on an iron in the 2000s as others have mentioned. 

 

I'm a huge Ping fan, and I value performance over looks, but why can't we have both when we're dropping a lot of $$$ on a set?

The i530 is so sleek compared to this - to me, carbon makes no sense other than match the color of the font. They should have just done a series of micro line milling for the carbon section would have been more pleasing to the eye. However, it could be a feel thing that Ping did this for...

G25 irons look better, they were unashamedly cast GI and one of the best looking GI irons imho

Exactly, to me the G25 was the first Ping GI that was semi playable looks-wise 

 

Blueprints are obviously great looking. But for my game the I series is better.

Don’t really care about the back of the irons, but these are pretty tough to look at. 230 look primo next to these.

I’m sure they perform great. But at 215$ or more per club , it’s hard to be impressed with them based on looks. That badge on the back of the club is a crime. Someone call the police

I think this is the first iteration that seem like a backwards steep aesthetically. I was one the fence about the i230s, but these just look funky. The i210s may well be PINGs greatest iron.

Definitely shallow. But to each his own. I’d rather be judged by the scores I shoot than what others may think of my bag cred. If a club helps me shoot lower scores it goes in the bag.

I looked at these for the first time in the parking lot of the range before a little practice session this morning. My i230s felt the pressure and performed nicely. 
 

I like the looks - DON’T CARE WHAT THE BACK LOOKS LIKE - but will be sticking with my i230s for the time being.*
 

*I know myself, I’ll order a set as soon as the preorder goes live.

The carbon ruins the look, ugh.  I bet they are great, but Jesus Ping, how do you make the Blueprints look so nice, then do that.
