I've cycled through a number of different shafts through the years from old-school Rifle 6.5 and 7.0 in old Miz TZoid Pros to X100s in Hogan Apex blades to PX 7.0s in some TM 300s to mostly playing Rocketbladez Tours with Modus 130X in them for the past 8 or 9 years.

I've always hit a high ball generally, and The Modus 130 will send me to the moon if I step on them.  I don't really remember how they fell in my lap, but I ended up getting really comfortable with the feel at a time when I was really focusing on flighting approach shots a lot more often, which has worked out decently well for me.

They feel like absolute sledgehammers after any significant time off, though.

Have been wanting to noodle around with some lighter weight shafts recently,  so I put some Modus 105X in some i210s I had sitting around.
Cracking the code of all of the different Modus profiles seems like deciphering the Rosetta stone to me. I've only tried the 130/120/125 and now 105 in the past with only the 120 really sticking out as significantly different (way too active of a handle for me), and the 130 being pretty unique in its own right (coming from a PX, the 130 felt and performed a little better for me). The 125 felt sorta similar to the DG X100s for me, so I went into the 105X thinking they'd be similar to some DG 120 X100s, maybe?

Interested in others' experiences, as I haven't really had time to put them through the ringer, gather data, etc.

First impression, I'm definitely seeing more overall height/spin... not really ballooning, but more so than the 130. I'm also mostly basing that off one day where there was a significant headwind that would exaggerate such a thing though, and there's definitely some natural swing differences in adjusting to the weight differences. So far, I can flight them quite easily, and I'm admittedly still knocking off some rust from the offseason and a busy spring with a lot of weather that hasn't given me much time to practice yet this year.

everybody needs a win sometimes, even if it isn't real

Pretty much all of them (except DG Mid). I think KBS $ Taper HT, PX, and Modus 115 have been my favorites. Used to be in $ Taper HT 125 and PX 6.5/6.0, but I think they work best with 90+ mph swing speed with a 7 iron which I don't have anymore. Wanted to try something lighter in a long iron and experimented with Modus 105X, $ Taper 115 and, PX 5.5. $ Taper had too much spin. PX 5.5 worked well, although I no longer love the feel of PX. Modus 105X really surprised me. Great mid launch flight and better spin control than I was expecting. I have two sets of irons in the rotation. King Tours with Modus 115x soft stepped and ZX7 with Modus 105x. Very similar numbers between the two sets. I have come to love Nippon Modus for the feel, weight tolerance, and cost. The last two don't matter quite as much if you don't build your own clubs.

Great input. I have been down this road of wanting to try lighter weight stuff. I experimented with a set of kbs $taper lite x 105s in a set of srixon zx7. The feel was great it was a nice higherish launch. My dispersion was pretty tight. But I lost like 7-10 yards a club. My next experiment is I want to try the modus 105x. I experimented with them about 8 years ago. I was like 23 years old and knew nothing. I had them in a set of taylormade tour preferred mc’s. They were amazing feeling, I was shocked at how good they felt. The problem was I was hitting them no where. I lost like 20 yards a club. I am a much much better player now so I am just interested in trying them again because the feel was amazing. Shafts I get along with well are x100, KBS tour s/x, kbs $ taper, dg mid 115 x. So again, tried the $ taper lites and was happy but didn’t love the distance loss, so now really interested in modus 105 x and if that doesn’t work will try dg 105. Just doing a light build for fun and see if I can get one that works really well to maybe transition to as the full time gamers.

What would you say modus 105x is closest to in comparison?

I think the Modus 105X was a different animal altogether.  I didn’t care for it and am having it swapped out as we speak.
