Quick shaft/adapter question.

I stuck an old Mizuno STx driver shaft in my Kirkland driver and there is a 1 mm space in between the hosel and the base of the adapter. The torque wrench popped and it’s fully torqued. So my quick question is:

Is this going to lead to the shaft snapping off right here or is this actually ok for me to hit it and not worry about it. I don’t have a lot of experience with these matters. TIA!!

I bet the head screw in the Kirkland is 1mm longer than what comes standard with the Mizuno. Assuming the threads match and you're not causing any damage, you can add another washer >1mm to the topside of the driver screw.

I would want to know for certain if both screws are the same diameter and threading. Probably something around M5 is common for most driver heads. Want to be sure you aren't forcing a 3/16" imperial screw in there. If it is just a length issue and the male/female screw fit, that's an easy fix.

If this is the case, then the head will still be loose, even though the screw is tight. I've seen a similar issue with a srixon adapter in different model shaft. If the screw bottomed out, it would be tight, but the head would still move a little bit. Had to use a slightly shorter screw.

The head is not loose. The torque wrench pops and everything is tight. But I’m still wondering if this little space is ok to go ahead and hit balls and not worry about any breakage or such. Could this little space lead to the shaft or adapter snapping and breaking off?

Either it's tight or it isn't. If it really is tight, you don't have anything to worry about.

If the screw bottoms out in the adapter, the wrench will click before the head gets tight. So the wrench clicking is not always an indication of the head being tight.

The wrench clicks and the head and the shaft seem to be very tight. Nothing wiggles or is loose. It’s just that tiny little space that’s slightly open that bothers my ocd. lol.
