7 Wood Shafts

Have a discount with TM and want to order a 7 wood with a shaft that will work for me without getting fitted.

Currently play a Denali Blue Stiff 60 and 70 in driver and 3 wood. Both work very well for me. Was going to go with an 80 for the 7 wood but they don’t offer that on their custom options.

Ventus Blue or Red 80? Can get Velocore or regular from TM.

Denali blue profile is softer tip and gradually stiffer as you get to the handle if I remember correctly. Ventus blue is opposite and has a stiff tip and gets softer as you get to the handle. Ventus red has a softer tip then gets stiff in the mid all the way up to the tip. Without a proper fitting it's like trying to grab a bird in the dark, however, if we go purely from a profile standard, Ventus red would be a better match.

Bend profile is very personal, I would try to get fit.
weight should go up with shorter woods. What is the next shorter club after the 7wood?

Playing a 3 iron with a 90 gram shaft which this would replace.

probably best to just get fit if I can’t get the Denali 80 gram.

I’ve got the Kai’li dark waves blue in the X flex it’s 75g, and has been fantastic.

Yes 80g would be a good start to test. I personally did not like the Denali, but this is subjektive. Kai‘li Blue is something to try as well for sure.

I got the 1K Black 85s in my Qi35 7 wood and really like it. It was the only free 80+ gram option when I ordered mine and don’t regret it. I know it’s a stiffer profile than I would normally play because I didn’t like it at all in a driver and 4/5 wood at 65g and 75g. It feels a lot better with a shorter shaft and heavier head for the 7 wood for me.

Ventus+ Blue 7S in 3HL & Red+ 7S in 7w. A little unconventional with the 70gr shaft in the 7w, but added weight to the 7w head makes this thing feel awesome. An 80gr shaft will swingweight better, but I wanted to feel more of where the head was with my 7w experience. Just something out of the ordinary that works well.

There is a reason a linear blue board profile fits so many folks! If anyone is coming in blind to a shaft, I always recommend these types of profiles to start with.

Online discussions (WRX included) often make it appear that "fast" golfers always need to go for low/low profiles, forgetting that darn near every pro has successfully played a Graphite Design AD DI at one point in their life. Mid and High profiles are weapons to be reckoned with. Assume launch is good for you, then test a lower profile if that isn't giving numbers you want to see.

I read once that "blue board" profiles fit somewhere around 80% of all club golfers.

@IneverDothis Have it confirmed, but I'm assuming by their description Denali has a stiffer butt and softer tip. Ventus Red will fit more in line with that feel. Blue is the opposite--stiffer tip, softer handle. Ventus 7 shafts are 4 or 5 grams heavier than your Denali Blue. On paper, you should be fine with that weight progression. Feel will be the final determination.

I'll second this. I have an aggressive transition and have played mostly low/low rebar type shafts for the past 20+ years. I switched to the Diamana BB within the past few months and it's been great, mind you I don't normally fit into blue boards for driver. I believe that lower torque and updated materials have added much needed stability which is why it's working. I've had to slow down my transition though which is still a work in progress but worth it.
