Another Heavyweight Graphite Option - New Tour Weight LA Golf "L-Series" Shafts

Another heavyweight graphite option just quietly released from LA Golf. It is a heavier version of their popular L-Series, called "Tour Series 130 Iron Shaft." It's specifications are virtually identical to the L-Series, just 130g instead of 120g.

Here's hoping for a L-Series 110g!

 

On second thought, the specification sheet is entirely identical on the Tour Series page as the L series page. Maybe they're still updating the shaft's info page, but the text description reads (interprets) as a 10g heavier option to the L-Series.

Love L-series.  Very underrated however, they sw out so freakin' light because they're high balance point shafts which sucks.  Tons of lead tape or tip weight are required.

I fit right between standard and .5” over, so I’ll always add a smidge of length to irons with LA Golf shafts. A .25” gives me about three more SW points. That tends to be a good feel.

 

The shafts work very well in heavier heads too. Same goes for their woods. I’ve been using them for so long now, a traditionally weighted shaft feels a bit odd at first. Especially one with a stiff tip section. LA Golf’s extremely stiff handle sections and looser tips have always jived with me. Love the whip/crack feel at impact.

 

Though I will concede, I always feel a need to give more to a swing with LA Golf. Their stability can handle it, but at the end of walking an extra nine holes, I wouldn’t mind a easy-feeling Modus 105.

 

I lean more towards the 120/110 gram family, so I don’t think these will be for me. But I will surely be trying them out when I get a chance.

L-series was the most stable graphite iron shaft and I've tested most of them.  I normally fit into DG profile shafts for irons, but for some reason, L-series and are like two peas in a pod, lol.  I'm going to be putting in a set of L-series in my next set of irons or when the tips on my MMT start to splinter, lol.  I play my irons 1/4 short and D3 is my sweet spot so sw is definitely an issue with these so I will either have to add tip weight or gobs of tape.

If you get a chance to give Dart V 120 a try I bet you'll like them. The material feel is similar to L Series (not as muted as MMT and not as clicky as Axiom). Similar stability and you might even get along well with the F4 (stiff) flex. The advantage over L series is that they are a very neutral balance point while still maintaining a lot of similarities to L series.
