Fujukura vs. Titleist tipping on Ventus shafts

I'm ordering a new Ventus Red Velocore+ 7 for my 3 wood and 8 for my 7 wood. Fujikura recommends 0" tipping on 3 woods and 1" on 7 woods, however I asked Titleist directly and they say they tip 1" on 3 woods and 1.5" on 7 woods. I'm ordering stuff flexes although I've play X before too, I'm always a tweener around 102-105 swing speed with driver and fairly quick transition etc., so the stiffer end of a stiff flex wouldn't be the worst thing, but I don't want to have to swing all out on every shot with my fairways either these days. Does anyone have experience with this or ordering one from Titleist and it played too stiff or anything? Or WHY exactly Titleist sees fit to do this? Maybe it would help me understand. I'm contemplating ordering the 3 wood tipped .5" and the 7 wood 1". I currently play a Ventus Black 5 stiff tipped .5" in the driver and it's going well.

I've always tipped my 3 metal 1-1.5 inches depending on how stiff/soft the tip is and they've all played fine.  Since you have an aggressive transition, you could play X with 0.5 to 1 inch tipping for 3 metal and 1-1.5 inches for 7 metal since Velo+ red has a fairly soft tip.

Tip or not, IMO is related to shaft profile and how you feel the club head.  Most of my shafts have been tipped .5" before sleeve, including the Diamana GT that's in the bag now.  That gets me the feel I like.  But to be fair, I've had shafts tipped .75, 1" and 1.5' and others no tipping. 

 

Titleist builds on their definition of flex and that definition differs from OEM to OEM.  So much of golf is about how something feels in our hands or to our psyche; .5", for whatever the reason, that works for me. 

 

I have four Ventus shafts.  In fujikura's defense, they define shaft builds and flex very different from other shaft OEMs; right or not, I trust their assessment more than others.
