Titleist 680 Iron Re-release

Recommended Posts

I think Titleist is doing some market research while making some profit.

These were great. I had a set my senior year of high school golf or maybe shortly after, I can’t remember. Got stolen out of the trunk of my car and ended up with some Clevelands second hand. I can’t remember the model of those either.

Very nice, but I've got three sets of 681s and I'm happy to play clubs until the sweet spots are concave, so at two grand-odd, I'll pass.

Until a rep pops in here and puts his name on the line and says: "We have contracted Endo to forge these 680's"  rather than "The company that forged the originals also did these", then I'm not quite sold.

I don't think most of these CS reps and "execs" worked at Accushnet a quarter century ago when the 680's were a product.

Someone else spoke to Titleist 1-800 CS Rep "Sam" earlier in the day and he didn't know the answer to the question.  Then his teammate Andrew said "100% NOT forged by Endo" and he was firm and adamant.

I got roasted earlier for trying to bird dog the right answer about the Endo thing, but I think it's a very positive attribute.  I wouldn't touch them if they weren't.  It would be like buying a Shelby Mustang without that Shelby-graced 289, but still a Ford 289 engine.

The Nike VR Pro and VR Combo were Endo and they felt special.  They jingled in the bag when you walked with your bag on your back.  They were just different.

What if they are forged by Endo, but it's Endo Thailand? What's the play then?

Does it need to be the same factory? Do they need to drag workers out of retirement to be authentic?

Get a life.

If I know that they are, I do not need to know if they are not.

I felt the same.  I got responses from 3 executives in positions to know, two of whom confirmed in writing that they are forged by Endo.  I believe that the third misread my question as he noted Hoffman as the foundry.

I also asked the CS reps I spoke with to confirm with someone as it's important to me given that I'm going to drop $2200 on something I cannot test and cannot return.  They took a few minutes and came back with confirmation.

None of these folks benefit directly from steering me wrong.

I get that we live in a time where everyone questions everything, but the confirmation of 4 of 5 employees with nothing to gain is good enough for me.  Hopefully it helps someone else as well.

What if those “Executives” are telling you what you want to hear?  How will you know if they are not Endo forged once you receive them?

An objective observer might point out that you're on the same site, in the same thread, at the same time, and have read enough of the content to form what seems to be a strong opinion.

An objective observer might think you're over-obsessing about a detail that is essentially irrelevant. Titleist is promising a re-issue of the 680 with the same specs and head shape. This melodrama about the forging location says more about you than anyone else.

And I have no strong opinion about the 680 re-issue. They aren't available LH and the last blades I played were the 690MB. They were beautiful clubs and felt great, but convinced me that I didn't have the game for them.

Not sure what post counts have to do with this thread but ok.  You’re the one who is looking more foolish with each post😆

I bet those Executives you sent messages to on LinkedIn are going be laughing their tails off come Monday morning.  Yeah, we told that guy these were Endo forged😂

I can help clarify that for you since you can't figure it out on your own.  In your case, post count is simply a way of quantifying who runs their mouth while contributing nothing.  It can also serve as an indicator of someone who tries really hard to seem smart and important on the internet because the people in their life do not view them that way.

Acushnet has a market cap of $4+ billion and you're arguing that their execs go out of their way on a Friday night to lie to a customer in hopes of maybe increasing a sale on which they are not compensated?

You should rethink who is looking more foolish with each post.

Again, everything you are saying is completely irrelevant to this post.  I don’t know any members who care or value post counts unless you’re are buying something from BST.  Dont worry though, me and other members love your posts so please don’t stop.

Honestly, I’m really worried what may happen to you once you find out these are not Endo forged.  Should we prepare wellness checks to ensure you’re ok when that happens?  Truth be told, you would probably never be able to tell the difference anyways…

Again, you're trying to deflect from the fact that you have 42k posts of contributing nothing.

I've done the work.  I've cited my sources.

You've contributed nothing but the same hollow, baseless comments you've been using for years.

The perception of you on this board is not what you think.  If you were just slightly more self aware, you'd understand that.

I know this post wasn’t directed toward me but I haven’t heard a description of someone that I can relate to as much as this one, ever. It sums up my entire online existence.

Again, nothing about your post is irrelevant to this thread.  I think everyone here can read this thread and clearly identify who is trying to deflect this thread and talk about post counts.

Back to the topic:  How will you be able to tell if these irons are Endo forged or not?  I mean, what if those two people who told you they were are wrong?  How will you be able to confirm?

The answer is likely nobody will unless Titliest releases an official statement.

There’s a video out there where someone is hitting a set of new irons and a set of fakes of the same iron, they let like 5 people hit them and 3 of the 5 people chose the fakes as the real irons.   Most can’t tell, a few can🤷

You’re exactly right!  Most people would not be able to tell the difference unless they were hitting the OGs vs the re-release set side by side.  Even with that it could tough to decipher.

I just don’t understand why all of that even matters or how anyone could tell one way or the other.
