Titleist 680 Iron Re-release

Recommended Posts

I imagine these are the same as the 2018 reissue. I do recall a post here on Golfwrx about the 680 Adam Scott edition and someone showed their order box. On it was a manufactur sticker saying these came from Thailand, implying they were forged in the Endo Thailand plant. Although this was quite awhile ago and I can't seem to find the post.

Rooting for you Adam! make some damn putts already though!

Received my irons Saturday and a sticker states that the heads were created in Thailand.  Appears these are Endo forged.

You gotta lot of nerve saying that and not posting pics.

All will be forgiven if you make it right.

You lads must be very good if you can tell where a set of blades is made based on hitting them

I have a set of mp33s, which depending on where I hit them, can feel like they have either been forged with fair dust, or hammered into shape out of an old railway girder by some cumbersome brute in the back of his shed...or pretty much anything in-between

Thos titleists do look nice however ill give you that.

Bro, it’s not being able to feel the foundry or difference when hitting, it’s just knowing. Guys deep into a hobby/collecting, covet the slightest nuances that the average person would have no clue nor care about.

Gonna link a page from a Star Wars action figure site. Truly mind boggling what these guys look for. 🤯

That said I can admit I’m 💯 guilty of caring where an iron was forged. Knowing darn well that I couldn’t tell a difference if my life depended on it!! 😂

🤷🏼‍♂️

*Vinyl capped Jawa action figure?!… Yeah I had that in 1978! 😂

Oh I totally get it. When replacing my wedges I ruled out anything that wasn't forged. I wanted that soft feel...that feeling that I'd enjoyed so much from my vokeys for past 2 years. Imagine my surprise when I found out the vokeys weren't actually forged either, coupled with the crushing realisation I wasn't nearly good enough to really spot the difference

But even then, I point blank refused to replace them with cast wedges..

Its like anything though isnt it. I have a bike frame which costs 5k. The same frame, made by the same company one level down costs half that. Apparently it's not as light by 100g, or stiff. Even as a fairly accomplished cyclist, I can guarantee I won't be able to tell them apart in a blind test

Or guitars..I could have bought a stratocaster made in Mexico for half the price of the one I bought made in the US. Apparently the tone is better from the US one. This was actually a factor in my decision making, despite barely being able to play 3 chords..

I think its a man thing tbh..

The examples are endless.

As far as a man thing… I think of designer hand bags and can’t get on board w/that! Haha

Make sure you buy Raw wedges if you are looking for superior feel. I'll never play anything else.

When you hit a raw wedge and then hit a chrome plated wedge its as noticeable as black and white vs color tv

Gonna need somebody to hit these and tell me if they how they feel vs the OG Miura forgings.

Heard at the golf show that some old school type of clubs were going to come back... 3-PW instead of 4-GW and stuff with sharper leading edges - from the Mizuno booth and I hope that mp33 are the club.  This is the next step in what-is-old-is-now-new circular golf club marketing.  This is just me, but real drivers with 43 inch shafts for mini-driver control and feel are going to be huge again soon too.

Most 680 sets that I see or find are worn out from about 8 iron down.

and thats not even that far.  I run across players that hit their wedges farther than me pretty frequently, using their 60’s for 110.

Curious. I see you post numbers and you are def longer than a lot.
Are you a big, gym strong guy that looks like he would crush it. Or more sneaky long, does it with flexibility, fast twitch n technique guy?

Again, obviously you don’t have to answer. Just curious

Probably just efficient with longer levers.

Did you go to a Rolex board thinking it wouldn’t be insufferable???
