MMT 105 Shaft Discussion

I will be getting a set of Srixon ZXi5 irons, and just need to choose the right shaft. I’ve always hit steel and currently gaming KBS Tour 110. I’m interested in switching to graphite and hit a few different models. I seemed to gravitate toward the MMT 105’s. I was previously fit into the Nippon 120’s and the DG 115’s as well. Anyone have experience with these, or would you recommend I try any other shaft?

Few threads on these in the main tech forum if you want to do some back reading. Its a smooths shaft, and for those that like DG profiles tends to work well.

 

I gamed them for a year or so, but prefer a bit more lively feels from my Accra CWT and are back in those. Its subtle, not night and day, to my feel-o-meter.

 

One note: the balance point of these can cause SW values when just swapping them in, to go up. I saw it about a point higher as an example, but that is just something the scale told me I didn't feel it 🙂

Nippon Modus 120 and Mitsubishi MMT 105 are only a few Gramm away from each other, but they could not feel more different. The Modus 120 in Stiff feels like a DG in regular and I would guess the MMT 85 regular which is the heaviest regular MMT Version feels same or stiffer than your Modus 120 Stiff. 
MMT is a good shaft for hitters, Modus is a good shaft for swingers. I can not describe it better… english is not my native Language 

 

MMT will bring the ball flight down a bit, Modus travels higher. 
 

I would recommend a try / Fitting…

Been playing the Steelfiber PR 110's in PXG's, just got a refit into the MMT 105 S in the PX GEN7.  Feel and results with this shaft was better for me in the SIM when I hit them side by side. I now have a demo Srixon zxi5 with the MMT 105s shaft in it.  Going to take it to the course and see how it does.  Don't trust indoor fittings, we shall see.

Played MMT 105S for sometime with 620 MB heads, excellent shafts.  Look into MMT 95S, have it in a T200 Driving 4i, and Fuji Pro Series, 95 & 110 tour spec (mid-high bend) stiff shafts, played both them since end of last year, still have the Pro 95i TS, stiff in 2i-4i.

I've not tried the Fujikuras that Pepper is using, but I can say between MMT and Recoil and Steelfiber, all of which I've tried, the MMT's are my favorites.

I've been playing Apex Pros with DG 115 Mids since last year. Pretty happy with the irons but that doesn't stop me from giving the occasional test with something new in there shop. Last time I was in a local independent shop staff was busy and the flight scope was off but I did mess around hitting the 925 Forged with the MMT 105S because I've really been interested to try it. All I can comment on is that the shafts felt fantastic. Seemed really smooth and stable. Definitely something I plan on looking into eventually when I do switch irons in the future.

I have MMT 125s in a set of Mizuno 925 Forged, and MMT 105Tx in a set of Mizuno Jpx 921 HMP.  I like them both, they are smooth and I like the ball flight I get with them.  Hard to say which I like the best because the heads are different.  I like both sets better than the SF shafts I had before, although the 115 fc were pretty close for me.  I liked the performance of the SF 95s, but I didn't like how they felt, and the lighter weight sometimes made them inconsistent for me.

Hit the MMT 105s demo 7iron on the course multiple times for 3 days, very impressed into the wind, feel and ball flight I got with these.  Feel was a lot different from the steel fibers....less harsh for sure.  Ordered the PXG Gen 7's with the MMT's should be here next week.  My Gen 6's with 110s private reserve will be on the BST next week.  Never ends.....

How is the 105 scoring wedge?  Is there a difference from the reg 105 say in a pitching/gap wedge?

Just got a wedge with 105s scoring wedge to compare to my 105s irons but have not had a chance to full swing hit it yet.

Try the modus 105 stiff and the project x lz 5.5 115

Ok so I have played a lot of shafts over the years, PX 6.0 flighted, PX 5.5, DG S300, Modus 105s, KBS C-Taper, Steelfiber 110s, Steelfiber PR 110s, Steelfiber 95CW.  The MMT 105s are a great fit for me right now with the PXG Gen7's.  Glad I got a re-fit with PXG, struggled with the SFPR shafts. Played 3 rounds and a practice round hitting numerous shots, could not be more pleased with these.

MMT Wedge 105 are about 115gr and the feel is very similar to the 105 irons. If I would go back to MMT (from my Axoim) then I would Play the wedge shafts in PW and 50deg wedge. They have nice targetory and a good amount of spin.
