Anyone splurge on any of the nicer stuff like HexClad, or just buy basic stuff and replace every couple years?

All non-stick is the cheap stuff because invariably it fails after a couple of years.

 

We have used, and continue to use the same All-Clad pots and pans we have had for 26 years, and we have a cast iron that I would guess is 70 years old because it was my parents.

 

Personally, I think it's worth it, but the sticker shock was something.

Yep, I've got All-Clad copper cores and a Le Creuset dutch oven and skillet, all of which I've had for over a decade now.

 

A lil pricey up front, sure ... but I'll never have to buy that stuff again.

So is HexClad a no go?

Hexclad is the non-stick, correct?  Drop a metal utensil in there when in the sink, or whatever and I suspect it'll chip no matter how great it is.  But I have never had the fancy non-stick because I feel it's inevitable.  All of my serious chef friends moved me from thinking I ought to get the fancy stuff for the non-stick.

Do you have a ‘Homegoods’ near ya? I have nice non-stick All-Clads from there. Big discounts.

Use em almost daily and they are great. I make sure to keep all metal utensils away from em.

Le Creuset is a no-brainer.  You get what you pay for.

 

No questions asked, lifetime guarantee.  My out-laws just had an entire 20+ year set replaced.

We just purchased a few pieces of All-Clad pro non-stick. Preparing for the day our electric cooktop croaks or becomes unusable because we'll likely migrate to induction. Need ferrous cores or bottoms. Thought we would get quality even though NS tends to not last although our Swiss Diamond cookware did OK. So far the AC is working fine (keeping fingers crossed).

Took the plunge today, ordered the 12 piece set of HexClad, then a nice utensil set from Analon, wasn’t dumping $250 for HexClad utensils.

Have a set of All Clad MC, more than 20 years of hard use. Love that stuff. Plus a couple ancient cast iron skillets, a Le Creuset Dutch oven, and the most versatile piece — a large carbon steel pan that is between a wok and a skillet. I had to carefully season it, but when I got that right it is as good as any nonstick surface. 
 

I have heard good things about HexClad, though the only nonstick item I have is the above carbon pan.

I am very happy with the HexClad purchase so far, seem very high quality, even cook, easy to clean, very nice.
