Building a global fourball network — curious how others do it?

Hi all — curious to hear how others here approach connecting with like-minded golfers who are interested in building unforgettable golf trips together.

Over the last few years, I’ve been lucky to play some of the top 100 courses across Scotland, England, NI, and Ireland — and occasionally I’ve had the opportunity to bring others into rounds at some pretty special places.

It’s made me realize how much I value playing these courses with others who really appreciate what the venue means — whether that’s a rota course, a quirky classic, or a modern top-100 outlier.

I’d love to connect more with folks who think similarly — about the experience, the people, the architecture, and the stories that come with playing world-class courses. Not looking to “swap” rounds, just hoping to meet more people who love this stuff as much as I do.

How have others here approached this? Any surprising friendships or golf connections come out of this group?

Lots of travel clubs/societies have popped up that seem to meet the exact desire you are talking about.

Individual golf clubs will also have organized golf travel trips for the members (officially organized by a pro or unofficially by members).

If you're a big fan of a certain architect there's specific societies catering to the various architects.

Online forums like this have organized golf events.

All of these have various pricing and expectations on benefit you provide the community in return.

Just saw your name, that you're new and the post only referenced top courses outside the US so figured maybe should give some specifics.

Outpost club, Friars golf club, 319 golf society, Epic golf club, thousand greens are examples that you could look into joining if trying to play some nice private courses in the US.

Agree that online societies are proliferate enough that most people should be able to find one that matches what they want.

No Laying Up has "The Roost" with lots of U.S.-based chapters.

Fried Egg Society

Random Golf Club

etc.

Sites that focus on golf course design and architecture will often have sponsored travel events as well.

Some of these trips are appealing but very expensive. I think it was Fried Egg who did a weekend event at Lookout Mountain Club here in Chattanooga. Guys traveled from all over to pay around $2,000 to take part in the event which included golf, food, tee gifts and prizes (but not travel expenses). I played the same course with a member last year and I thought it was expensive at $185 for my round.
