IMO he's been playing good lately on both Tours.  Plus he pumps up the crowd.  I agree he was a juvenile a few years ago but he's been much more mature lately.  Bryson over the no shows at the Ryder Cup-the typical player at the bottom of the points list that go 0-2-1 etc.

Here is another way to look at Gotterup.  The...FedEx Cup.  FedEx Cup points distribution is more "flat" compared to the Ryder Cup.

Morikawa isn’t inspiring me.  If he has a couple more T50s or missed cuts, and finishes about 8th, I’d be tempted to ride a hot hand instead.

Id take just about anyone on the list over CM.  Give me Gotterup, Bryson or Ben even.

Xander is listed as second per the rankings for the US. He is nearly a lock

I think the top 11 right now looks pretty solid and it's just a battle for 12th. In reality Cantlay is probably going to get the benefit of the doubt and Mav will be fighting for his spot. I agree though Spieth shouldn't be anywhere near this team.

technically if 3 players outside the top 6 were to get 5.5k points each he could get pushed out but thats not happening for 3 players its more likely that the entire top 6 is set already.

The upside is he is a young bomber (distance is so important at BP Black) who has a ton of momentum in the past 3 months.

 

The downside is he's only been doing this for 3 months, and the bulk of the points have come from links courses which is low ball suits well.

Gotterup and the like are tough ones. You want to see the young guys take the mantle but you also want a little proof that the streak is not just that. Is Gotterup the Scottish Open / Open Championship guys or is he 9 missed cuts in 23 events and only 11 top 25's guy? I don't think you can go to him without more results the next few weeks.
