Caddies In Scotland

My brother and I are heading to Scotland on August 1st and are looking to get caddies for our rounds.

Can someone tell me what the best way is to get those set up, should I contact each course directly or what is the best approach.

Any other tips or advice on the area would be much appreciated.

Contact the course directly. They will require advance booking, not very often they have caddies hanging around on spec. The course websites typically have caddy info, if not use their general email address.
I assume you already have golf reservations?

Yes, we have reservations at all the courses, I will reach out to them to see about booking caddies.

my friend forgot to book one for Dumbarnie on Wednesday, they didn't have anyone hanging about...

My club struggles to get enough on some days so certainly they need advance bookings.

Each course directly. Some can be through website. I think kingsbarns was. Just got back last week

What do think about Dumbarnie? My clients just got back today and it was their favorite course.

I really liked it; you can't fault a single hole, simple what you see is what you get course. I preferred it to Kingsbarns, dad preferred Kingsbarns. You know it's completely man made but the dunes shape the holes perfectly, dad said it reminded him of Turnberry with the feeling of framing the holes. The grass is new and it looks new but the greens roll much better than they look.

I played well which certainly helps, wind was about 20mph from the West so wasn't bad at all. Now I have played it once I would pick some better lines off the tee. My favorite holes were 3 - drivable par 4, downwind I hit a 3 wood green side bunker and 10 - long par 4, where it gets narrow the further you hit it so you really have to think rather than just blast driver.

I would play again next year for the Scottish residents price certainly. I would recommend

Good to hear. It wasn’t open yet on my last trip but it’s definitely on the list.

I would have to play Dumbarnie again to properly assess it. My first opinion was an amazing front 9 with the back 9 nowhere near as strong with a weak finish. Maybe a little harsh hence why I would like to play it again.

Is it better than KB? Not for me I'm afraid.

Played both last month and both were very popular but Kingsbarns was the favorite of everyone in our group. We'd definitely recommend both if you're willing to pay. Kingsbarns was the most expensive course on our trip.
