I think Brooks needs a top 5 at The Open to even be in the conversation for a captains pick. I think he'd additive to the team then guys like Ben Griffin and Andrew Novak

Saturday morning coffee time. 
 

Koepka finished tied for 12th at the US Open. Including an 4 over on his second round and a solid -1 on opening round. Ahead of others in the conversation for captains picks including Morikawa, McNeely, Harman, Cantlay and Clark. 
 

And BDC, who is hanging on near the bottom of the automatic 6 (and who I do think should also get picked if he falls off after the B Open 🤓) and didn’t even make the cut. But of course that was clearly an equipment issue……

 

Lots of talk here about must-make at the B Open, but is Portrush really a test of readiness of golf game for Bethpage?  So different. US Open a better analogy.

I can't put much stock in Rory's, Rahm 's or Koepka's final finish at the US Open.  They were so far out ahead of the leaders AND the gnarly weather.  I know there is some luck involved and those were solid final rounds, but...it stinks. 😉

I have a hard time seeing BK being a solid teammate and positive force in the locker room.  I would rather have a current player with some success than a struggling grumpy guy.

Need to get the guys who are accumulating points in real events and with good form experience/starts in the Ryder Cup they deserve -- it's the 2025 Ryder Cup, not '23 or some other year when someone had a good event we remember.

Brooks has 5 majors, Glover 1.  So no.  If Tiger were still 35 like Brooks.  Hell yeah

Brooks has played like a pile of garbage on the exhibition tour and especially the majors since his PGA win in 2023. He has zero business for even being under consideration for actual consideration for the RC. Again his win there in 2019 is completely irrelevant.

I think 6 captain's picks are overkill and leaves way more room for the so called "old boy" network they supposedly wanted to get away from - weight the selection process properly on more recent performance - 4 are plenty.  They've gotten far away from the changes in the so-called system they wanted to implement following the Mickelson attention ho attacks on Tom Watson and his being a negative influence in the team room and leaking stuff to suit his purposes - true colors.  Six guaranteed spots for a two year qualification process? Not enough.

Spitballing here….maybe someday something along the lines of 6 for the points list from the last two years as they do currently and then 3-4 for guys not on that list with points just from the last 3 months or so? Then 2-3 captains picks.  That way you still reward the consistency of the last two years…plus get the guys that are more recently hot….plus a couple picks.

Brooks was done the moment that Netflix show aired. 
 

He went from being perceived as alpha dog to a crybaby that said he couldn’t compete with the younger guys on tour, and then he left to LIV. 
 

Doubt Fitz will get his form where it needs to be by September, but hope im wrong

I like Fitz. His game at the Country Club was great. His fairway bunker shot was one of the best I’ve ever seen.
