Brooks Koepka- Ryder Cup selection

BK has The Open, and that’s it. If he doesn’t do something big, he should be out. There are other big names that need to do something with their remaining chances as well. Get in the top 10/12.

It seems like there are 6 Autos, Keegan gets 4, and the media/Netflix complex gets to pick 2 darlings(?)

You Euro guys are kind of quiet. What about Rahm? What if he doesn’t play good in The Open? My goodness.

Here is something to think about.

How often does the OP cry in the shower?

2X week

4X Week

More than 6X week

Huh?
I hope Im misinterpreting your post, but seems I’m confused as to why your throwing strays here

Rahm's gonna be on the team. He's finished top 15 in all 3 majors this year and has a 6-3-3 record in the 3 Ryder Cups he's played. Still one of the best golfers in the world no matter what the OWGR says.

Well...our boy Bruce moved up from 72 to 70 in the Data Golf Rankings released today.  Must have not posted that 81 to GHIN yet.

You hit on one of the lesser-known conflicts that LIV has. They have been fighting with GHIN to have course ratings increased for LIV tournaments so that their players can keep their indexes higher for their club championships. This has been very under reported.

Ummm, if they have their course ratings increased their scores would result in lower indexes.

So yeah…sounds like a request they might make.🤦🏼

  • 2 weeks later...

He has shown 0 form.  At this point even if he wins the Open he probably wouldn't deserve a pick as it would look like a one week anomaly.  Although I do think the pressure given our lack of experience would be to put him on the team in place of some of these guys we never would thought would be in contention for the team.

Agreed. Plus, I don't think that Scheffler wants to ever play with him again.😆

I think Brooks is out. Can’t see any way to choose him now. Not a team or glue guy and has been in terrible form.

I take Brooks everytime.  He's very tough mentally and his competitive fire is strong especially when it comes to big time tourneys.  Sure, he can be an a****** and dismissive, however, he gets the job done.  I'd rather have him on the team rather than someone who's friendly and a team player that folds under pressure.

It’s sad, because he literally set a course record and won the last event at Bethpage. But I agree, he likely isn’t a consideration. He might take himself out of the conversation if his knee issue is as much as some think.

His knee seems fine now.  His ball speed dropped and he made some compensations in his swing when he was coming back from that injury.  The man still has that killer instinct and competitive fire though which is scary in team events.

I don’t know, he’s only 35 and you see guys compete well into their late 40’s now. I still think he has more in the tank at some point.

Those guys like playing golf.

brooks doesn’t and he’s admitted it.   The last couple years he really just looks like he wants to be anywhere other than the golf course

By most accounts he has a NEW knee injury.  Not the one that led to his move to LIV.

Killer instinct and all that competitive fire missed three cuts in four majors this year.

I doubt BK is on Keegan's radar.

Brooks is a killer and definitely should be on the radar every year. That being said, his game is not where it needs to be now and he shouldn't be picked. He is a superstar however.

I'm not advocating for either of them to be Captain's Picks...but Reed>Koepka in the Ryder Cup.  Reed's short, balky driver however, is scary at Bethpage.

Performance yes, but Reed is also a sabotaging malcontent. You have to factor that in.

LOL! Actually he's not. 7-6-2 record in the RC. 3-0-1 in singles. So 4-6-1 with a partner in the most impoertant parts of the event. That's not being a killer. That's being well below average. Same as most of the USA teams of the last 30 years.

Thank you!

Golf fans are so fickle. I encourage folks to go look at the comments a mere two years ago when he went second-first at the first two majors of the year. You’d think the guy can’t even hold a club anymore the way people are trashing him for having a down year.

two years is a lifetime ago in this game. It really is a what you have done for me lately business. In 2024 he was T45, T26, T26, and T43 at the Masters, PGA, US Open, and the Open. He just backed those result up with Cut, Cut, T12, and Cut. Plus, he only has 2 LIV wins in the last two years to support any majors' results.

At the end of the day that says career is going the wrong way. Whether that is fair or not doesn't matter. It is the reality of the state of his game.
