I never understood the concept of a separate club for chipping, although my friend is so bad at chipping he should probably try it lol.

There was a putter called The Yip Stick.

 

You don't really need to have the yips to game these, they're great for beginners as they generally put you in a better posture, and they work from most lies as long as loft isn't a huge issue.

 

Plus who doesn't love hitting a chipper 70 yards hoping Callaway didn't skimp on the epoxy.

They need Martin Borgmeier to hit it 300 yards to really test it.

I am all for the rise of the chipper! Wedge purists, too bad, I want it all to burn! I want the highest technology chippers possible to hit the scene! I want golf digest to have separate “hot list” categories for players chippers, game improvement chippers, and SGI chippers! I want dedicated chipper shafts. Lie angle balanced chippers! Milled chippers, insert chippers, carbon steel chippers!!! I want to see pros bag chippers and get so good with them that they can do things we wouldn’t even fathom.
 

The time of the chipper is now! Weep all ye doubters!

I played the original Cleveland Niblicks when they came out a number of years ago and loved them, so I’m not anti chipper.  Only tried the Odyssey at my GG, but could never wrap my mind around it.  Just looked and felt weird to me, and these don’t really fit my eye either.  But I’d never tell anyone not to give them a shot if they think there’s a benefit.

My grandpa has a Ping Chipr, maybe I buy him this for Xmas.  He plays a old white hot putter so this would be the best of both worlds😂

I doubt Ping is getting nervous. They look very similar to the clubs I saw in a Dunhams's Sports store the other day. Went to get a few gloves as it was near the course I played, huge store, strange pricing. $30-40 off brand chippers and putters with a rack of Cobra Rad Speed and TM Sim 2's for 300-$400.

This is the chipper equivalent to the mini driver.  Can't hit 3 wood, can't hit driver, so game a mini driver! 😂

I don't understand these people that need to make fun or talk down to players using something unconventional. There is a vast range of skill levels in golf. Let people buy whatever club they want without being told they have the "yips" or can't chip with a 9 iron.

I’m a decent, competent golfer.  I pre-ordered one and will review it.  I’m genuinely curious how versatile and simplistic this will be compared to using a standard wedge/iron.  I’m going in with a very open mind, and any shot that can be played with it will be played with it.  Should be able to talk to it within 2

weeks or so.

Exactly .. they are just purpose built clubs designed for chipping and running approach shots .. shorter, heavier, more upright, sole contoured etc.. Why ridicule someone who dedicates a spot in the bag for one of these and then reach for your 460 cc “forgiveness on all 9 points” purpose built driving club. Most of us are vastly better off, especially in firm conditions, getting really good with the putter and a flat chipping club from round the green and saving the lob wedge for when no other option exists. And these dedicated chippers beat the hell out of improvising with something designed to hit a ball 120 + yards with a descending blow and a tilted swing plane ..

No - you’ll know it when you see it. Thin top line, more square, low bounce K grind on the bottom for turf interaction. Might want a different grind if your course gets wet though
