Need help swallowing and not pulling inside so much

Trying to get a tad more vertical / keep the club in front of my hands more

 

Also trying to reduce the wrist cup at the top....

 

And thoughts or drills?

I have the same issue. What my coach has told me is have the following feel:

 

when I take the club back from the ball, keep the y with the hands until the shaft is parallel to the ground and then go UP with the hands and shaft. 
 

for me it feels like I’m pushing the club really outside, but when I actually go to make a strike on the ball and keep my hands low the shaft and club head are online. If done correctly, when I start my down swing with the hip move inertia will naturally shallow the club without getting stuck behind. 
 

After working on this for a while I can feel when I start my backswing too shallow because I get stuck behind on the downswing (because this automatic shallowing happens anyway) and either hit the ball fat or shank it because I’m forced to cast and flip.

The flatter plane in which your body/club moves is directly related to the neck and head tilts at set up.  I’d suggest adjusting that angle so you can look directly at the ball/target line where your pupils are relatively centered in the eye sockets.  With regard to your cupped wrist, this has to do with your lead hand grip, which limits radial (wrist c0ck).  Since youre limited in that wrist function, youre using a cupped wrist to make up for that loss in range.  If you kept your grip and went into flexion (flat wrist), your club to lead arm would be well short of 90, and likely have ramifications on potential distance (unless youre of Rahm ability).

I think you mean help not pulling the club inside in the backswing and help shallowing the club in the downswing.

 

You have a classic overswing. Too much hip/shoulder depth and you pull the arms behind you early, which gets the club across the line and the wrist cup at the top. Don't have much lateral in the backswing and kind of just spin around your lead foot. You then try to hold the release and fall down onto your lead foot in the downswing, which makes for a flippy release.

 

I would recommend working on shortening the swing. Try and hit little 3/4 7 iron cut shots. This will ensure you stay in posture more and, hopefully, use your hands less to square the face. It should feel like a pitch shot. Shift turn, shift turn. Make sure your turn isn't too flat. To get the club vertical early, you need to tilt a little.

 

Don't worry about trying to actively shallow. Shallowing is a result of good movement.

Yeah it's always needed to shorten the swing, that's definitely something I need to work on
