KBS $-Taper guys, what in wedges?

Just like the thread title says, what are guys playing $-Taper shafts using in their wedges? I’m gaming $-Taper stiff shafts in ZX5 MKii’s. I fit more into $-Taper S+ but prefer the stiff flex in the lower spinning ZX5 heads. Just want a little more heft in my wedges…

I play the $Taper S+ in Ping blueprint S irons. Currently with the Modus 125 wedge shaft and really like them. 
 

however, I just got a pair of KBS 610 125 shafts that I’m looking to test here in the next week or 2, so we’ll see how that goes!

 

 I’ve tried multiple times to go DG TI S400 in the wedges, and they just don’t work for me

I’m definitely interested in the KBS wedge shaft lineup because these will be going in 54° and 58° wedges that I don’t hit many full shots with. I don’t hit any full shots with the 58° actually.

I've currently got KBS tour (cheaper and plays pretty similar to $-taper) in gap and sand, Modus 125 wedge shaft in lobber (it's a wedgeworks T grind. That makes it from the SM8 generation then I believe). Had a s400 when I first bought it.

 

I'd say keep the $-taper in your full swing wedges, and dynamic gold in the partial shot wedges. Or just dynamic gold in the whole set. My non-objective opinion is DG is the best wedge shaft. It has an ability to accept a wide variety of swing speed inputs, making it unbeatable in wedges. There's a lot of great wedge shafts out there, I just haven't had any of my tinkering lead to a shaft I like better.

I’ll be sticking with the $-Taper shafts in my irons. The A wedge from the set, which is a full swing club 90% of the time, I’ll be keeping the $-Taper in too. It’s the 54 and 58 I’m looking to put heavier shafts in for 100 yards and in shots and around the green. I’ve played S400’s in past wedges as well as X100 8 iron shafts and KBS Tour X 8 iron shafts. I’ll probably end up doing one of those again but wanted to see if there are opinions on the newer wedge shaft options before I pulled the trigger on shafts I used 10+ years ago.

+1 here for the 610's.

 

$-Taper 120s & 610 120s have been super stable for me as I tend to balloon and lose less "stable" wedge shafts. They add enough heft without being overly heavy or board-y. As long as your SW's are dialed, I personally don't think too much of the heavier wedge shaft concept.

 

I think the $-Taper could also run through the wedges, but obviously that requires some testing as they would essentially be soft stepped into the wedges.

Have you considered using the 130g $ Taper X 8 iron shaft for your wedges?  …Tiger  stepping.

I’ve done that in the past with X100’s and KBS Tour X shafts. It’s on the table as an option for sure. Not sure I want to spend $65/shaft on that experiment. If I do go back with an 8 iron setup, I’ll probably do the KBS Tour because I know it works.

In MMT for irons now due to age and past injuries, however, I've had or tested most of the KBS lineup.  Still have the OG tour and 610 in my wedges.  610 feels more linear/one piece compared to $-taper and are supposed to compliment the Tour V in that it was modeled after it in terms of EI profile.  Launch and peak height are just a hair lower and it spins less as well.  If you hit your wedges sky high and spin the snot outta them, then 610 is money.

Been playing $-taper for 6 years across many sets. Settled on this for the 120s. 9-GW, I sort 3x 9iron shafts and ascend to the heaviest into the GW. 
 

PW - 9iron shaft tipped 1/8

GW - 9iron shaft tipped 1/4

SW - 125 9iron shaft tipped 1/3

LW - S300

 

edit: I do this to get the butt length as close as possible to the first taper. 

 

I did the 610s for a bit in a 52/58 wedge set up. Those are really nice wedge shafts and spin up just fine, love the larger grip feel as well.
