Titleist GT1 Tour Fairway

And......a tour win today.

Hit it at my local Roger Dunn and it is so good. The shallow face and the way the head sits on the ground, it is a direct competitor to TM and their Qi10 and Qi35. 

 

Sound is not metallic at all. GT1 Tour 3 head uses their thermo process for the crown. 

 

Pre-ordered and ready to plug my 3-wood shaft: Diamana BB. 😎

I want to apologize for accidentally spreading fake news about my GT1 Tour shipping. I had ordered 3 custom clubs (GT1T, U505, GT1 5w) on separate days and later received 3 ship confirmations from Titleist which I assumed were the 3 clubs. It turns out one pkg (arrived today) was a free T Series gift bag that I knew nothing about. I feel bad about spreading fake news. My GT1 Tour has NOT shipped yet so everyone still waiting can feel better. I did receive my GT1 5w and U505 pretty quickly FWIW.

GT280 is hit or miss from what I have heard from fellow gearheads at the club and from the GolfWRX forums. 🤷‍♂️

I'm getting similar clubs as well, ordered mine a few days ago.  3 Tour and a GT1 5 wood.  Switching up from a GT2 16.5 and GT2 21.  I bought a GT1 9 wood and it was such a great club, I made the switch.

How did you find the GT1 5 wood head size?  I believe they are all the same CC size and it just looked a little big for a 5 wood didnt bother you at all?

GT3 3w (left) and GT1 5w (right). Not 5w vs 5w but might be helpful.

I wish it was just a little smaller. Not sure why they didn’t make them progressive in size.

I hope that Titleist’s next iteration of fairway woods — GTi or whatever they are — has something that’s in between the current GT1 and GT2 shape, especially in the higher-lofted woods.

 

I have a GT2 7 wood that I love, but compared to other fairway woods on the market, I don’t have to get too far out onto the toe before gear effect takes over and I get hooks. I’ve thought about trying a GT1 7 wood instead, but I don’t want it to be quite THAT big. I also don’t really want higher launch and spin; I don’t want to change anything about the performance, other than adding a touch more forgiveness.

 

I’m hoping the GT1 3Tour ends up being an indication that Titleist knows it could make some relatively small but important tweaks to its fairway wood lineup.

@eric61 ^ exactly that.  I played the non tour gt1 15 and it was so good other than spin, have the gt1tour on order, but always thought a 5 wood would be so good with that performance.  I know there are tour pros gaming gt1 5 and 7 woods so clearly its not too big for them, but I play my 5 wood at 41.25 and when I put my shaft on the gt1 5 wood it just looked massive, as a lefty it's hard to demo one, I am pretty sure I can get over the size if the performance is there.

I tried a TSr3 5 wood and liked how versatile it is, but the toe strikes just dipped in spin so much that it was longer than a 3 wood with the high launch low spin flight.  Maybe ill pull a trigger and get a gt1 5 and see how it goes.

I think the shaft makes a difference to sound too. I also put in a lighter weight which hasn't helped

Eagerly awaiting a good comparison with Ping/Taylormade. I have one built and in the cart, even have the last three digits of the card put in. But my better sense is winning so far.

You can always sell/trade it on the BST if it doesn't work out, you'll have no way of knowing if it's "the one" otherwise

Well, honestly I have been looking to upgrade my woods, had a fitting/comparison set up between, titliest and ping and before I went to it, the GT1 tour got announced. I think I'll just wait a few extra weeks. Titliest makes such a great looking club, the GT series looks wise is as good as it can get imho. I just want a very forgiving set up with those looks.

I didn’t want to wait for the what seems like long wait times so I bought a GT2 13.5 today lol. If I end up hitting it like 10’ off the ground I’ll order the GT1. Just buy it if you can wait for the shipping time.

Both stores I've been to haven't gotten one for sale yet but do have some demo heads.

Was fit into this at a Titleist fitting event at my course earlier in the week. I currently have the GT2 with a Ventus Blue 7S shaft set to 43". Anyone know if I put that same shaft into the GT1 3Tour if it'll be 43" as well? Or does the head sit differently than the other fairway metals in the GT line?

How did it compare to your GT2?
