Titleist GT1 Fairway Weight Help

Hey everyone. 
 

Hope you all had a great 4th! I switched from a GT2 7 wood to a GT1 7 wood. I needed a bigger profile and more forgiveness. It also gives me more confidence over the ball. 
 

It’s a newer club that I’m learning in the bag (about 6 months). In multiple interviews with Titleist reps and the lead GT rep (the woman, I forgot her name), and on the Titleist/ other websites, they mention a lightweight setup or standard setup for moderate swing speed players that don’t need the GT1 for the lighter weight head but for help of the the larger foot print and forgiveness. 
 

I can’t find any posts or guidance on what they would suggest changing both weights to. If that’s even correct. 
 

If someone can point me in the right direction that would be super helpful.

When I weighed 1 series drivers, fw, and hybrids vs their 2 counterparts ( TSi and TSR, though not GT series ) I found the 1 heads ( no sole weight ) weighed about 2g less than the 2 series.  The real total weight savings is not from the head, but from their use of a lightweight shaft and lightweight grip.

 

I have the following TSR1 clubs on hand and here are their weights without the sole weight installed.

- 15* fw - 194g

- 20* hybrid - 218g

- 23* hybrid - 223g

Got it. So you think if I just put my regular weight 7w shaft I should be good to go?

Yes but your playing length, grip, and desired swing weight may lead you to add/remove head weight.  I always have extra weights on hand for such purposes.   Or you can easily cut/shape lead tape to fit under the stock weight.

Yeah not worried about SW. I got weights and scales. 
 

Just not familiar with how the phrased the “lightweight setup” for slower swingers. 
 

I think they could have done better with this information.

Thanks for the confirmation. GT2 7 even 5 wood too were so small, just couldn’t get the confidence with them.

This is correct. I spoke with Titleist customer service earlier on the same subject:

 

"Based on the information I have available, with stock specs the GT1 has a swingweight of D0 while the GT2/3 have a swingweight of D3. This is due to the GT1 having a lighter stock shaft and grip, not any difference in headweight between the models. Additionally, a swingweight is 2 grams. So, the +6-weight setting, using stock GT1 specs would increase the swingweight to the stock GT2/3 weight, but this would more than likely not be necessary if using a shaft similar in weight to the stock shaft of the GT2/3 Hybrid in the GT1 model."
