Would be a great story but Westwood couldn't get over the line in his prime so the chances of winning his first major at 52 I would think are very slim. Phil had already done it several times.

@kwcsports You could try watching the BBC iPlayer Livestream (via VPN)

... IIRC, zero advertisements/commercials on free-to-air BBC TV

There's a video around where he does a Driver shootout with Bryson at the Range, where Bryson bombs it 360ish and he about 345 carry, IIRC

 

Edit: Found it... https://golf.com/news/20-year-old-amateur-open-duel-bryson-dechambeau/, and it's been 388 and 363 yds.

BBC stopped doing live TV coverage of The Open over 10 years now. I think Z Johnson at St Andrews was the last time.

My Scheffler theory: very similar to Bruce Willis character in Unbreakable by M. Night Shyamalan.

The character has super strength, but his weakness is water.

Scheffler - u gotta notice the fancy footwork does occasionally cause him to slip in the wet. On dry turf it's a really interesting way to equalize all the competing vectors of momentum, but in the wet it's got its issues.

i believe the Commentator List = seems incomplete

i.e. think i've heard Nico Colsaerts chatting with the lovely Ali Whitaker and Tony Johnstone , on the World Feed 

(none of whom are listed in ICDB, as appearing at The Open this week?)

 

...edit: Found Tony Johnstone listed under "Featured Groups" commentators

The R&A were pretty angry with the BBC as they were still broadcasting The Open in SD in 2015, when the European Tour had already been producing their own events in HD for a few years. The BBC also didn't even show most of the day 5 coverage when the tournament was delayed into Monday. The BBC still had a year to run on their contract, so should have covered 2016, but they gave it up early.

I'm half Norwegian and I grew up in Yorkshire, so I'm used to crappy, rainy weather. Dreich, as my Scottish pals would term it.

 

Nonetheless it's so annoying, sitting at home amidst a hosepipe ban and an officially-declared drought, to see the championship marred by this sort of weather.

Royal Portrush looks amazing and there are so many holes that can be a birdie or high score.  This seems like the only course used for the Open, that does not require weather conditions to be difficult.  Looking forward to these four days...
