Like I said, there's no truth to the idea that what he does would work for everyone, but the fact that he is willing to be the only guy out there doing it his way is pretty remarkable to me.

I'm not even a Bryson fan, but I am still impressed by his talent. That being said, his approach and refusal to play non-bomb-and-gouge golf holds him back in my view

He is the ultimate bomb and gouge player, but guys like Rory can play bomb and gouge on some holes or courses and then not do that and attack the course in a more sustainable way. When is the last time you saw Bryson hit an iron off the tee on a par four? I can't even picture it. A guy with his speed could easily run it out there 270+ on a course like this and yet he just doesn't do it or doesn't do it often enough at least. His strategy (or lack thereof) kind of makes a bad round irredeemable for him

Heck of an up and down by Rory. Wish he was still at -3 and hoping he can get at least 1 or 2 under before the end but he has kept the blow up round that was right there from happening the whole time and is very much still in this.

This may be the thing that sets me off most about him, although his YouTube marketing is rapidly catching up.  The whole 3-d printed irons, changed weekly too. 
 

He majored in physics at SMU. Literally thousands of students per year graduate from college with a similar major. Hell, I took PChem and several other premed classes and literally no one has ever called me a genius. To my knowledge he never gained an engineering degree.   His self reported IQ is 121, roughly around the 90th %-ile.  Well below threshold standards for Mensa Stanford-Binet or Catrell scoring.

I get your point, one of those, if you hit a high ball and the window is up you still have to try to hit it low. Guess I'd just say to counter, maybe Bryson looks at it like, I'm only going to play this one form of the game, and it will work really well at points and maybe I'll get a couple majors and that's it.

Yeah, but when golf has so few of those types that really get the scientific side of the game, it's cool to see (sparingly). DJ won multiple majors without being able to spell DJ. So it's nice to have a spectrum

I guess, but with that outlook he could save himself a flight to the Open every July. It just doesn't work here. You can't hit a lob wedge from inside 100 yards every time, and that's kinda just his DNA

this rory, JT, fleetwood group is boring...announcers keep trying to make them sound interesting but theyre all playing mediocre
