Ping g430 lst or 440lst?

I’m in the minority but I find the 430 LST more forgiving than the 440. Almost point and shoot for me. Got a touch more ball speed with the 440 but less consistent with it.

How do you find the Ventus Blue in the 430 head?  I have been toying with upgrading after seeing a few playing partners rave about the Ventus.  The 2024 version is the one I have my eye on.

Been a game-changer for me. Used to be the weakest part of my game. For some reason the shaft-head combo in 10 1/2 match my swing. Find the 6S very playable with my 98-100 SS. Spin in the 2,400 or so range.

I gamed a 430 LST for 3 years. I loved it when I was hitting it great; unfortunately, my miss was hard right (left-handed). I have heard that the 440 LST is much more fade biased, but you never know till you hit it! I have one en route!

For this reason I have a 440 LST w/ a Tour AD VF 6s hitting the BST soon

I found pretty similar results! Though I had the lowest spin in the TP5X across the board compared to the other two by about 150 rpms. I'd also think about the Tour BX if you're testing low spin offerings. Wedge spin on that ball is insane.

For everyone saying a driver is too fade or draw biased did you guys tinker with the rear weight? It actually makes a difference on the Pings.

So ended up playing with hosel settings on the 430 lst . Flat -1 setting and it’s a game changer. Soon could be a little lower (that’s being SUPER nitpicky) but launch is good. Hard to decouple those 2  so def god with the way it is.

I have quite a few aftermarket shafts, AD GC 6x, Ventus TR black 6x, Ventus velo+ red 6x, Diamana WB 73TX and a RPG tour gold 472 M5+. I gotta say, the ping tour black 2.0 might be my favorite. Gonna give it another week or so and if nothing changes, all those shafts are going for sale. I can’t believe I’d say that as a typical WRX’er but the numbers and don’t lie.

anyone else like the ping shafts?

So if I’m in a Darkspeed LS (the original), 9 turned down to 8, but with extra weight added to the head and the heaviest weight back (12 back, 4 toe, 8 heel), and I’m Ping curious (use a 430 LST 3 wood as a 4 wood and a G400 7 wood) and a somewhat high spin player, do I try the 440 LST or 430? Want more forgiveness but don’t want to give up too much distance.

going to try both out against my gamer and a gt2/3 so should be interesting, only asking for folks experiences on the above because my gamer shaft (alpha one grey) isn’t going to be available at the fitting so won’t be apples to apples

For those gaming 440s, can you order it -1.25 length and have Ping have the swing weight at stock ? 46” is quite long

depending on what shaft you get theyre difference lengths. the stated stock length is only for the counter balance shaft.

  • Standard length is based on the Alta CB Blue 50 shaft.
  • Standard length with PING Tour 2.0 Chrome or Black, Mitsubishi Tensei 1K and Project X Denali Red shafts is 45 1/2".
  • Standard swingweight with the Project X Denali Red 60 is 1 point higher than standard.
  • Standard swingweight with the Mitsubishi Tensei 1K Black 65 is 2 points higher than standard.
  • Standard swingweight for the HL (High-Launch) build with ALTA Quick shaft is D2 in the 35 flex and D3 in the 45 flex.
  • Standard length for the HL (High-Launch) build is 46"

I might be in the minority here but I'm not a fan of either the chrome or black 2.0, granted, UST makes awesome shafts, these two weren't quite stable enough for me.  They feel ok though.

I was in a real rut with my driver for a couple of months and needed to look at something else.

That 440 LST looked good and felt good.  Most importantly it was forgiving and I was finding fairways again.

I weighed the head with the stock 29 and it was 201g.  I got a couple aftermarket weights and when I dropped in the 25…. holy smokes what a beast.  Still forgiving but it felt a lot faster.

Highly recommend tinkering with different back weights.

The weights in the 440 are quite a bit heavier than the 430, and the head and shaft combo you choose could be quite a bit more sensitive to shedding a few grams.

I agree completely, but I seem to get a little better ball speed with the looser shaft. The forgiveness of the LST makes up for the bit of inconsistency due to the less stable shaft.

im seeing ball speeds in the upper 170’s with the tour black. I haven’t seen those numbers in a couple years…since before children 😂

Tensei green (so orange 1k but cooler because I like kiradech lol) I had been fit I to the white before and I know the orange isn’t drastically different but this is the best combo I’ve ever played. The last few months my game off the tee has made me ponder giving up. I played 9 the evening it showed up and hit every fairway but the last which I missed by a couple yards on my exact line. I’m beyond in love with this setup. For now lol.

Brittney Lincicome and Gerina Pillar lost distance after having kids as well.  Oh wait, are we talking about men?  LOL.   I don't have kids, however, I'll take your word for it, ha!

Ping nailed it for me. I ordered a 440 LST with playing length at 44.75", D4-D5 swingweight, and Tour Velvet Cord midsize grip (pretty heavy at 62g). The driver came perfectly cut to the right playing length and right at D4. I was incredibly surprised/impressed.

I don't know why, but I flat out loved the Ping Tour Chrome but couldn't find the middle of the club face with the Tour Black (both 65X). I ended up drinking the cool aid and went with a Ventus TR Blue 6X, but I feel like most of that was cause it looked awesome haha. Can't say the numbers were really better than the Tour Chrome for me. As an aside, you can get the Ventus shaft for $200 if you order it from Ping with your driver (rather than $350 aftermarket), and then you can order a stock Ping shaft on the side just in case you ever want to sell the "stock" driver (and then you get a Ventus shaft for 30% off retail). Or you can easily make your money back on the Ventus and re-sell that if you see no real difference.

Haha it’s 2025, don’t assume

my gender 😂🤣

Pre kids it was speed training 3-4 days/week. Post kids I’m lucky to pick up a club once a week, and speed training 😂 no chance
