Diamana BB/ WB vs Tour AD DI

Recommended Posts

The current Diamana BB has a bit more of an active feeling than the AD DI. Both profiles overlap nicely and are very similar. I bet if you can hit one, you can hit the other just as easily. The AD DI technically has a stiffer tip than mid, but it is very close to the Diamana BB's softer tip than mid section. If you're looking fairway woods, the AD DI stiffens up more than the Diamana BB in 70 and 80g classes.

The Diamana plays very well with lighter club heads like Taylormade. What driver are you using?

Diamana WB feels quite a bit different. It's still very smooth. Though it is smoother as a whole as opposed to feeling the descending stiffness of the Diamana BB. They are similar. The best choice between the two will be if you prefer firmer or softer butt sections. The AD DI feels in-between the BB and WB. If you've hit the Kaili Blue, that feels VERY SIMILAR to the AD DI.

What other shafts have you liked?

As a "handle dragger," the BB is the easiest to square up with driver.

I currently use an AI Smoke TD Max but am experimenting with a TSR2 as well, was originally fit with the TD Max and AD DI, but GT2 also played well with the shaft, I might try a BB to see the feeling

Feel can be a bit different because materials have improved since the DI was release, but the profiles are very similar. The DI was, after all, designed to imitate the original Blueboard (which the new BB is now the 6th generation of).

New BB might feel a little more stable in the handle (because it starts by not losing stiffness as quickly) and feel like it has less of a hinge down by the low mid/tip. Ymmv - also, 5th gen “blue” shaft, the TB, could also be a good one to try. Will feel a little more stable/linear than either DI or BB

Also, quick word of caution that each brand’s shaft descriptions are NOT comparable to each other. I know Mitsu describes the BB as having a softer tip, but that’s not apples to apples with GD’s numerical stiffness code. Brands aren’t even necessarily talking about the same section of the shaft when they say “butt” “mid” “tip”

AD-DI and Diamana Blue are similar, soft midsection archetypical shafts; tend to feel more hinge-ish or load/kick. The Whiteboard tends to be more of a linear profile, with no midsection trough or even a slight stiffness bump in the midsection.

WB will feel noticably different from the other two to MOST people, but what effect that difference will have on performance for any one player can only be determined by test-driving.

DI kicks like a mule to me no matter the flex.  BB does have some kick but isn't nearly as excessive as DI especially in X and TX, IMO.  And, yes, as a handle dragger myself, I've found the BB easiest to square with driver outta the three which is why it's in the bag.
