Where to Play in Phoenix - Mid August

I know there's a good amount of where to play in Phoenix posts, but we are going to be in town for business the week of Aug 17th. Looking to play two courses and the last time in town in Apr we played TN - Pinnacle and We-Ko-Pa Saguaro. Would like to play somewhere new, but also know it will be quite hot and looking for a place in decent condition. This was my first desert golf experience, Saguaro was great, Pinnacle was challenging to say the least, but beautiful. Maybe looking for something a bit more open than Pinnacle as I'm working to get my skills back after a 7 year hiatus from golf.

Thoughts on courses that tend to stay pretty nice and do not have any water restrictions for the very hot months? Wouldn't be completely against We-Ko-Pa Cholla Course, but was thinking Quintero or Dino Mountain.

Just played Dino mountain - was really good condition but I think they punch in a week or so. Definitely worth the summer greens fees though!

I'll be further south of Phoenix at that time, visiting. Fortunately, hot doesn't bother me like others. Bring a few towels, one to keep wet on your head and one dry, and lots of ice water. As soon as I read open, my head was shaking.

Quintero is closed until November for green and bunker reconstruction. Cholla is a great choice, but it plays much tighter compared to Saguaro.

Sterling Grove would be a good option out on the west side. The course is about 5 years old and has an open feel to it and very interesting greens. They're still building homes out there, so there would be some of that to deal with.

Southern Dunes in Maricopa is always a good choice but a bit of a drive. Grayhawk has 2 courses to choose from and should be in good shape.

Cholla is a really good golf course. The desert is more penalizing than at Saguaro though. Like it's basically unplayable and is a penalty every time. It's not overly narrow though (it's wider than TN Pinnacle for sure). Cholla and Saguaro were done by different designers and they are very different feels. So don't assume that because Saguaro was wider and had more rolling hills that Cholla will play the same way. They are not the same.

Quintero is closed but I wouldnt recommend that given the parameters you set. That course is brutal and penial. It's a pretty poor design in general but it's pretty so people love it.

Dino is a bit open but it's got some, uh, idk crazy mounding and stuff so it's not exactly a walk in the park.

TPC Scottsdale Champions is a good option as it's centrally located, it's always in great shape and the desert isn't too penalizing there.

Southern Dunes would be another recommendation because it's just a great golf course. It's not an easy course and it's visually intimidating off the tees but once you get to the landing zones it's actually a fairly wide golf course.

Grayhawk Talon could be an option. It's a little more fun/dialed back version of Grayhawk Raptor.
